La Couleur Royale (? ? ?) - Noodler's

There is no doubt in my mind that one or more batches of LCR are a lot more blue. This is sample, and as you can see it is more purple than Visvamitra's sample.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Please do note that "Chemyst" is not Noodlers', Nathan Tardiff, or anyone representative or representing Noodlers' for that matter.

See this post:

Warm regards, Wim

Thank you Wim. We still all love Nathan and his work to bring us all truckloads of inky joy. Please pass this on.

And we wait for the day when he has a Kekule's Dream of how to make Liberty's Elysium truly bulletproof.

I recently got a bottle of Liberty's Elysium from Goulet's, and I would say LE has a very slight violet tinge that Visvamitra's blue "LCR" doesn't have. In fact the writing sample of that blue LCR looks remarkably close to the sample of "Inkyman Sapphire" that cdwaites posted. It is almost as if Noodler's mixed a batch of Inkyman and put it into bottles labelled LCR.

If Noodler's would make Inkyman Sapphire an actual product with semi-predictable color balance then I would buy it in a second, as I really miss the old Penman Sapphire (but not enough to pay $95 for NOS bottles.)

Well, I guess it is not hard to guess my favorite color from my moniker...

Addendum to the above post:

I went back to read amberleadavis's and other's threads on Inkyman Sapphire and other blue ink quests. Since I have some Noodler's Liberty's Elysium (LE) I went and compared it to some old notebooks I have that were written with original PPS. I confirmed that PPS has more green in it than LE, so I tried a mixing experiment of my own: I added Penman Emerald, of which I still have half a bottle, drop by drop to a 6 mL sample of LE. With 4 drops of PPE (about 3%) I got a blue-green hue that seemed fairly close to PPS, but something else happened: I got much more gray-black in the visual mix than I expected, looking like, say, Noodler's 54th Massachusetts. So that was pretty much a failure (though the ink is usable and I will write with it) and I see why turquoise would be a better starting point.

I can see that I am a bumbling newb with a lot to learn about ink. I will continue to write a lot with straight LE as I like it a lot in its own right, but it is not a close hue to Penman Sapphire, in my view.

I am also realizing that I should be trying to mix my own personal shade of blue, instead of trying to duplicate an unobtainable classic!

BlueJ, welcome aboard the inky train! You are not bumbling in a bad way, but bumbling like the bee that buzzes and enjoys all the color. I think of my self as the inky bumble bee. Welcome aboard.

Amber, thanks for the welcome to this corner of FPN. Next time I order from Goulet's, I'll get some samples of other blue-related Noodler's inks, and report how my mixes turn out.

Incidentally, I wrote LB in one place in my last post for LE, Liberty's Elysium. It seems FPN does not allow posts to be edited after someone responds.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
