I think that at a price of $110 (through 3rd party sellers on Amazon), this pen is one of the best in it's price segment.

Thank you for reviewing this pen. I have one with a smooth FM nib which, whilst it doesn't have any flex, has a nice soft, springy feel which makes it a pleasure to write with.

You've reminded me that I don't ink my pen often enough and I'll have to put it into my rotation again soon. Enjoy your 92 - I'm sure you will :-)

Thanks for your review. I originally bought the Demo in Medium and loved it so much I bought the Blue and Orange in Medium and Smoke in Fine. I love them and they've led me to be a fully paid up member of the Pilot Fan Club. (I now have a VP, 2 Falcons, 3 Preras, a Metro, 78G and 823).

I'm thinking about this pen with 'SF' nib. It's possible?

How flexible is 'F' nib in Heritage?

for SF nib you will have to go for CH91 .... not CH92..

Unfortunately, Pilot only offers F, FM, M, and Broad nibs with the Custom Heritage 92; there are no soft options.

That said, I have found the 92 to have some spring to it. The only flex nib I have to compare it to is the Noodler's Nib Creaper, which is much more flexible. I think with enough pressure you could get some line variation from the 92, but I don't see much. I do notice that when I write with vey little pressure that the pen puts out less ink and when I write with my normal writing pressure the line is much wetter.

I think I might be on my way to a club membership as well - I find their nibs to be amongst the best.

The 92 is by far my favorite pen that I've purchase so far, and the Varsity is my go to pen in the office. Maybe once I stop being fascinated with the piston filler on the 92 I'll be looking at the 823 :)

FWIW, I prefer my 92s to the 823 despite the fact I tend to prefer larger, heavier pens and the greater ink capacity in the 823. The 92s are as close to perfect as you can get.

The 723 is another good choice IMO. Takes all the #5 nibs Pilot offers.
