My Christmas purchase, a Classic Pens LB5 Sailor King of Pen (Kaen: fire red) with a Medium nib. The pen is #26 of 50. The image is a stock photograph. Sailor nibs are my absolute favorite!

Congratulations on your new fountain pen! It is incredibly beautiful, and as you mentioned, the big Sailor nibs are excellent. Nothing like those LB5 King of Pens. Lambrou makes remarkable pens by finding the very best aspects of certain models and then modifying the pens to make them even more appealing. He certainly did this with the basic King of Pen design which evolved into the LB5. I own blue Tensui #11, brown Kouseki #12, and white Tairiku #12. I believe your red one is still the prettiest of all the LB5 colors.

By the way, Andy changed the name of the company to Lambrou Pens not too long after these are made. Still the same great products.

I almost fell over when I saw his price on the LM1. I have one I bought from Andy Lambrou at a pen show and it is my favorite pen bar none. I have dozens of Omas, plus a bunch of Nakayas, Pelikans, and Auroras and the LM1 definitely gets grabbed most. I'm thinking I may have to try one of the sterling silver beauties from Bryant.

Having had the Ebonite Sailor KOP how does the LB5 feel compared to it?

The LB5 is longer than the KOP so I find other more cofortable as I hold pens farther back than many others. There is also the obvious tactile difference in feel between plastic and hard rubber. Plus ebonite warms more quickly in the hand.

 

At the end, I prefer the LB5 because of the length and the beautiful acrylics.

Bry's deals are great, close the the price of a used one. But the silver CP8 pens are HEAVY! Well balanced, but still a lot to hold. And no good for most shirt pockets.
