Ink Cartridge For 18K Waterman

good afternoon everyone

I am so glad I ran into this site as I have been searching for weeks now on how to pinpoint the right cartridge

I have an 18K 750 (written just below the tip) fountain pen waterman that was passed to me my from dad

It states made in france and the letters I believe Plaque OR G

There is also a number on the outside just below the tip which is black and gold that states

G37058

When I take it apart, the cartridge holder has a little insert that also states waterman made in france

how do i fill this pen so i can use it? I also have another one which is ball pen, where the cartridge piece is very small with a round back and just flips either up or down but does not really come off

any advise would be greatly appreciatedpost-127025-0-90307200-1450638139_thumb.jpgpost-127025-0-84994300-1450638152.jpgpost-127025-0-24227000-1450638281_thumb.jpgpost-127025-0-75922500-1450638305.jpg

Lovely fountainpen..... Oh and welcome to FPN...

It takes the Waterman C/F size cartridges, and, alas, those are of the past. Sometimes you can find a box on ebay or similar. If you find some, don't throw them away, you can refill them with a syringe. The current Waterman cartridges will NOT fit.

There are also converters, and I believe your pen is fitted with one, but it could be the converter sac has disintegrated, like the do on lever-fill pens.

You can buy NOS converters on the internet, but they are relatively expensive.

I know little about old Waterman ballpoints, would not know what refill goes in there.

thank you very much to writing back

very pleased to have found this forum

so reading your advice, i can skip the converter route and just buy C/F size cartridges

but do you refill this - the silver hallow piece comes off the pen easily but no spot really to fill anything

Sorry, you misunderstood me.

Those cartridges are LONG GONE. (about 40 yrs or so)

But every now and then you will find someone offering a few old ones on ebay or on penshows.

The converters are still available.

Here is a link to Amazon USA:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Waterman-Piston-Converter-Metal-Fountain/dp/B00O6ENTPO

Possibly there are other places you can find one, too.

And the mouth of the cartrdige/converter is the important part. The current ones (long AND mini) have a different size and will not fit.

I have a collection of Waterman C/F pens and Waterman mini-cartridges fit in every single one, without problems and without leaks.

Perhaps you could pop a picture up showing one fitted.

Some time ago someone on Pentrace revealed that it was possible to drive a modern International cartridge into a C/F by industriously screwing it into the collar of the section (and continuing to screw it in the same direction to remove it, lest the section be disassembled by accident). This probably works better with the Waterman cartridges because they're a little more slender. Theoretically, one could sand off enough of the walls of something like a Monteverde Mini to allow it to seat.

The flat bar on the side of that converter should press down on a rubber sac within the shell; when released, it would draw in ink. However, it's possible that the sac has gone rigid with age.

I have been reviewing my catalogues with reference to the availability of converters and one clearly states the small (short) international as 'not for the c/f'.

As suggested by Admin I was hoping to put together a topic, Waterman Converters, that could be pinned.

And quite correct, if one treats pen and cartridge with due respect ;) Someday I'll lay aside a converter I don't have other uses for, and I'll check out that theoretical possibility I mentioned.

I would like to make that a combined cartridges and converters topic..

I have some interesting pictures, but no time to make a proper post of it now.

But I will start a topic I will pin, so be my guest filling in with appropriate material.
