Caran D'ache Ecridor Retro

Thank you for the tip.

To aderoy:

About the flow issue, when i flushed en dryed the nib, the nib and feed came out the grip. A very loos fit. When all put together again the nib is not as dry anymore. It writes better then ever. What brand of ink do you use? Diamine and akkerman inks works beautifully in my ecridor.

The nib should not be so loose as to fall out. Now that it is seated better / proper the ink should flow well. Congrats on your first repair.

With mine if I lightly hold the pen from the far end of the body with nib on paper (no pressure only the weight of pen on the nib) and drag the pen a line of ink is left on the paper, no skips.

As for ink use many: Diamine, Herbin, Platinum Carbon Black & Carbon Blue, Sailor Lamy, Faber Castell and Wateman. Mostly bright blue or blacks with a Blue/Black tossed in there.

The Platinum Carbon inks are when I wish longterm and water resistance.

Not the type to use only one ink manufactor from the looks of it...

I have two versions of the Ecridor from different decades. I can confirm that both are fitted with a push-in converter and not a screw-in converter. Interestingly after I first bought my Ecridor there were several things I didn't like about it... the nib wasn't too smooth and the balance wasn't exactly stunning. But it grew on me and now it's easily one of my favorite pens (although the "hexagonal" is still my fave).

Mke “Unfortunately, you didn't show the pen end. Is it stepped or does it look like this one here?

Mke and fx101, on the spur of the moment I bought what was described as a vintage Caran d’Ache silver fountain pen, on eBay. I assume it is the early model, from a previous decade, as the end is not stepped down. This of course means it won’t take the cap on its rear, although I am not bothered by that.

It would not be my ideal pen as I prefer flex or Italic nibs, but it does seem to write well even in difficult conditions so probably a good everyday pen, if I wasn’t afraid to lose it; although I have only had it for a day, and time will tell.

Can anyone confirm it is an Ecridor? I believe it is not silver, but silver coloured, and what might the approximate dates be of this model.

As said looks similar to a YoL pen, I prefer the overall look and that they are available in the grand size.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
