Papier Plume Peacock Blue

An FPNer sent me some inks made for the Papier Plume pen shop in New Orleans. I'd said I'd do a review so here is this one for the blue. I'll also be doing one for the green and the brown, which are the typical colors I like.

This is a relatively bright blue that handles fairly well. I did have one issue after flooding the feed on the Lamy Al-Star I used for the review. The flow was all wrong and I got feathering and flooding of ink on the paper. That usually doesn't happen, but I don't always use the Al-Star for reviews, so perhaps it could be a pen problem rather than an ink problem.

The ink is fairly wet, bright, seems decent. It seems to be a single dye formulation. It's fairly simple in that it doesn't shade. I have no idea what this ink normally would cost, so it could be a very good value. But since the shop seems to be aiming at a more discriminating customer, a more unique, upscale formulation might be in order.

My review mentions the MB Tolstoy ink, but that was an error on my part. I was looking at the MB Honoré de Balzac.

Tried this out on Mohawk via Linen (MvL), Hammermill 28 lb Inkjet, and Clairefontaine papers.

I did complain about the flooding here in the review, but it's possible I was being too harsh in assuming that the ink was at fault.

Some water resistance.

Thank you for this review. I ordered mossy green & caramel inks from Papier Plume & received a small bottle of this as a "langniappe" (thank you) as traditional in old New Orleans. I had also ordered some G Lalo notes which even though listed as "in stock" were back ordered & they were kind enough to offer to ship the inks prior to my waiting for the paper. I assured them this was unnecessary; I was happy to wait for one shipment. I thought this was quite considerate & "felt special" as well when I found the small bottle shipped as a courtesy.

I have not tried this ink; it seemed a bit "summery" for current use. I was more interested in the "caramel" & have found it very nice. The prices of their inks is most reasonable; the two bottles I purchased were $8.00 for 30 ml each. I am glad to see it is a pleasant ink, if not spectacular. I will try it against the Sheaffer's Peacock Blue when I have the chance but thank you for your (as always) thorough review.
