Schmidt Easy Flow 9000 Blue Refills

rosebute

Recommended Posts

Ive been using these in black medium, & love them. But i recently got some medium blue ones & they arent nearly as smooth, feeling like the ink is much thicker or sticky like the older Parker refills.

Has anyone else found this, Or did I just get some dried out old ones?

Thanks, Brian.

Maybe they're fakes? Do fake Schmidt 9000 refills exist (yet)?

Jeez, the Chinese have got me questioning the authenticity of everything around me :(

Yes the date code is:

001 means: Jan. 2010

104 means: April 2011.

One can get some pretty old ones on the internet. I reccomend Levenger as a source of "fresh" ones.

I have not found a Parker style refill that writes as good as these for regular ink. Some of the gel refills are good but I have not had much luck with blue gels...the Parker blue gels remain water soluable. The Easyflow blues are nearly archival.

I had the same experience with the blue medium, Rosebute, and found the ink flow inconsistent and the line a bit fine. I prefer the 900 (not 9000) in broad, which is not all that broad -- smooth and reliable, though not a hybrid ink to my knowledge, just a "regular" ballpoint refill.

I was enjoying a Schmidt 9000 until I discovered the Scheider Slider 755 XB. So smooth it could almost be a fountain pen. I did say almost!

Couldn't agree more! (Also tried the Slider 755 in medium, but it was unremarkable.)

Since you mentioned it, I was looking into these Schneider Slider 755 ViscoGlide XB refills...

Some sites say the XB (Extra-Broad) refills have a 1.4mm tip. The refills alone in unit quantity are around $3.50 USD each.

But there are also Schneider Slider ViscoGlide stick pens in XB as well, and they only cost $1.97"

It makes you wonder if the refill in the stick pens is the same as the Parker style refill - I doubt it. But the ink and the ball may be the same.

Then there's the Schneider Slider Rave Retractable Viscoglide Ballpoint Pen in XB for $4.97, $1.50 more than the refill alone:

For what it's worth, I'll bet the refill in the retractable version pen is the same as the loose Parker-style refill.

I tried the Scheider Slider 755 XB refills.. OfficeMax had them.

I returned them.. the point was so broad...the ink accumalted on the tip as you wrote. It was a smooth writing experience but I ended up with ink all over the place...my hands..the beginning and end of sentences. I had tried an Easyflow 9000 broad (yes they do make them) and did not have this problem. I've been using the Easyflow mediums so I can write with some detail. I admit one

needs to buy fresh ones and they can become skippy if they accumulate any sort of the debris in on the tip and it makes it into the refill.

I enjoy using both the broad Schmidt Easy Flow 9000 and the Schneider Slider 755 XB. I use the black and blue refills in each, and the Schneider Slider 755 XB is also available in red and green; I had to purchase the Schneider Slider 755 XB red and green refills from a store in the UK as I could not find them in the US.

I haven't tried these yet in broad, my preferred tip size... had a Medium one once though it may have been the 900, and didn't think it was impressive.

I am curious if anyone has done a comparison of the Easy Flow 9000 vs Schneider Slider XB? If so, I'd enjoy reading your thoughts about it. Thanks.

I find the Schneiders OK, but not all same-- some feel like ordinary BP pen ink (i.e., Parker) and sometimes, more in black I think, it's very smooth. Sometimes feels like it has to get going before it gets smoother, but I dunno.

I also liked Unibazl JetStream 1.0s but don't use that as much as the Zebra Z-Mulsion 1.0 or my favorite, the Zebra 1.2 Flight RT. I take it out, cut it a bit shorter and put it in a BIC Atlantis Ultra Comfort for its soft silicone grip-- (a steal at Target, FYI, for $3.99, 2 bucks less than Staples or OD).

Glad I found this forum though!

P900 are different then Easyfloow 9000.

P900 is a oil based refill vs EF 9000 being hybrid refill.

Jetstream is a hybrid refill as well.

I've read that, that's way I think is not fair to complain if not sure. In my opinion EF9000 and Jetstream are the best ballpoint refill at this moment. Both are water and sun exposure fading resistant! And extremely smooth.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
