Best Cheap Fine Point Ballpoint?

Recommended Posts

Hi, The Zebra B4A3 four colour pen, with big springy, effective clip, writes fine lines using conventional ballpoint ink, rather than hybrid or gel.

It's a thick multi-pen, 13mm at the widest point, with a really good finger grip.

I've now bought 2 of them, price was around GBP 1.50 in a high street shop, seems good value to me.

Absolutely love this Pilot pen. They are cheap, write a super fine line. An added bonus is that it is refillable. Its been around for ages and was something of a status symbol in my high school dayspost-126042-0-86621800-1495607094.jpg

Pilot G2's can be found with a fine tip. I've found the Paper Make Inkjoy 525's to be rather good as well - well' I would but my student's keep nicking them.

Uni Signo pens are very nice. They make one called the 207 micro that writes an extra fine line. The 0.5mm pens are nice too. Then there's the Signo BLX pens that are black infused with color.

I'm sure the OP long since found something suitable, but I'll chime in for my favorite gel, the Uniball Signo 207. There's also the Pilot Precise V5 RT, which writes similarly well, but I like the look and grip of the Uniball better.

If we're strictly interested in cheap ballpoints, I like the Inkjoy Mini retractable pens. The length is just long enough to be comfortable and the triangular shape feels good and won't roll off the table.

Unfortunately, they're kind of hard to find.

Thanks for the Bic Orange recommendation. I've seen and used those in the past, but she prefers retractable pens (can't edit my original post to include that requirement).

The Bic M10 Clic Fine could be a good alternative

Do people like the clicking over the posting plastic caps?

Clicking gives me the willies.

How come? With cheaper pens, I always prefer a click pen over one with a removable cap because it's just so much easier to work with.

My

As far as fine point multi-packs go, I've always liked the Pentel R.S.V.P. I go for the black, red, and violet, not liking their green ink, and getting blobs with the blue. I used them all through high school and early college, but quit using them when I moved to fountain pens. Picked up a pack about six months ago while I was feeling a little nostalgic, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the quality is still the same after seven years of not using these pens.

Best of luck in finding the right pen.

Pentel R.S.V.P. were my go to ballpoint before I started using fountain pens. Still use them once in a while.

Thanks, all. We're going to try all of these. I hope she doesn't care for the Jotter, so I can get it.

Get two. I believe they are metal. Metal = More expensive. You can still find the plastic jotters online. Try the RB refill. The BP refills are okay at best.

Springs often fall apart on me, i like intricate pen spinning and the capped cheapies make for the better tricks.

Any experience with this pen?

It's the Fisher Rocket Space Pen, SPR series.

How fine is Fisher fine? I can't really say I'm a fan of fine pens but the design intrigues me.

Also, can it be refilled somehow?

Fisher refills are OK.

The last for a lllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg time.

I mean it. I really do.

They take some pressure to write....

Thickness.... I can't say. The medium is definitely a medium, so don't expect fine to be oh so fine...

FIsher's are effective, always enjoy finding other pens that are excellent but also 100% reliable while I'm propped up on pillows in bed.

Inertia and zero attention span dictates that any thread over a page on here will end up with a Montblanc Carnegie FP getting recommended as a good cheap starter pen.... or something like that....
