Contacting Penopoly/roger Cromwell

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to contact Penopoly (owned by a Roger Cromwell) about purchasing a pen on that site. Twice I've submitted an e-mail via their contact form, but I've heard nothing (and I've checked my spam folder just to be certain).

Does anyone have any idea of other ways to contact them, or the like? Any help much appreciated.

How long did you give him to respond? Sometimes people are traveling or otherwise unable to respond quickly. I would give him at least a week to respond.

His site also has a phone number: Roger Cromwell - (510)415-9080 sales and repairs

Call him.

However, if you don't get a response when trying to buy a pen (from him or anyone else), think of what it would be like if you had a problem with that pen.

Same thing happened to me about a year ago when I tried to contact him to buy a pen from his site--finally I just gave up. Perhaps I should have tried calling, but I prefer to order by email. Sorry I can't offer constructive help, just empathizing with you; it shouldn't be that hard to order from a site.

I'm the same way, most of the time -- I like to have a record of what's done and said.

Out of curiosity, what pen?

It's a Paul Duclos pen I've had my eye on for some time, which is one reason it's so frustrating not to be able to reach someone who, in theory, wants to make money selling it. But that's also why I can't just buy it somewhere else; it's not a mass-produced item.

Too bad I can't make it to the Ohio Pen Show; Penopoly is one of that show's sponsors, IIRC. But I can't justify the time at present. And the DC Show teaches me that it may not be wise to turn me loose in a room full of fountain pens. ;)

I had some first hand experience with Roger that led me to talk to lots of people about him. I will send you an email off-line.

  • 5 months later...

I've now had the same experience. After 3 months, many e-mails, at least 20 phone calls - Roger is still promising to mail my Mont Blanc back. He is very difficult to reach. He was to repair the nib and said that the work was done but it's been 3 months. Any suggestions or additional information would be appreciated.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
