How Do You Tighten Strings In Parker Box

This question applies to more than just Parkers but I have a lot Parkers with boxes. Does anyone have a solution to fixing (tightening) the loose elastic strings (don't know the actual name) in a Parker box that is supposed to hold the pen and pencil set in place?

I have been saving my luggage tag strings from commuter airline flights and bus trips to replace the expired strings. They are cloth covered rubber bands and like the sacs are usually perished.

Agree. Go to an appropriate shop (haberdashery?) and buy some cloth elastic. You can always dye it if needed. I used some tea to dye white elastic in order to match light brown fabric.

Try the elastic bands used for a woman's ponytail. Or take the box to a craft store.

There must be some way to get at the back side of it.

I love that particular kind of Parker box! Is that set a Special set or a Standard set?

Probably Special.

Yes it is a "Special."

The elastics are sold online or in stores somewhere. Find somebody selling the right length and change them out. That would beat buying a length of elastic and trying to tie knots, or clamping on metal ends yourself, if you could even find those.

And I would still keep the old ones just because.
