I can tell you that I have two Pelikans from Junipers and both arrived in perfect condition and are great. Not a guarantee for your experience but they were great for me. I haven't checked other prices on the 1000 but I think it's widely available with a medium on eBay for around $500 from reputable sellers in Germany.

I've ordered pens from Amazon / fullfilled by Junipers' before. No issues here as far as I can tell. It does take quite some time to get to the US for shipping though.

$535 isn't that great a price compared to what you can regularly find through eBay or other European sellers. There's even a cheaper F M1000 listed on Amazon for $487 right now.

You certainly can get it cheaper, but there is the matter of whether the seller is an authorized dealer or not (at least for those living in the US, because of Chartpak's police on the warranty).

As far as I know Junipers is authorized - I bought a M1000 and a M600 from them earlier this year, and had the M600's nib exchanged by Chartpak (which will only do this for pens bought from authorized dealers).

May I ask that how they can tell this pen is from authorized seller?

Chartpak will require a copy of the receipt, which will tell them if it came from an authorized seller.

I've never bought from amazon, but the eBay dealer I've purchased from (Rolf at missing-pen) is authorized, as are many other european dealers that offer great pricing.

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

It just wasn't likely to have been Kodachrome.  It would have been the films I referred to as "other color films." (Kodachrome is not a generic term for color film. It is a specific film that produces transparencies, or slides, by a process not used for any other film. There are other color trans

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
