Noodler's King Philip Requiem

I haven't really liked the ink in many of my pens for some reason, but it worked so well in the Charlie pen that I figured I just needed a wide-open ebonite feed. Rather than use one of my vintage pens, I decided to get a King Philip Requiem Ahab. I don't care for Noodler's flex nibs, I guess, so I switched it out for a Bexley medium I had free. Nice results. A bit wet right now, but I'm reluctant to mess with it too much. Probably see if I can just dilute the ink a little.

Looks like I demoted King Philip to "Prince" in my writing. Oh, well...

I know my id is "mhosea", but you can call me Mike. It's an old Unix thing.

Actually, that was from the sample from Mike which convinced me that I "needed" this ink.

THANK YOU SID for finding me an entire BOTTLE. I am so in love with this ink and you made it happen for me.

Absolutely! My daughter borrowed my pen that was loaded with KPR and she just LOVED it.

I'm very new to Noodler's Inks and I've just learned about the King Phillip Ink by watching Nathan's video, I love the color is an amazing Magenta to bad it was only limited edition but I guess that is what makes it unique. Thanks for this post, I least now I know I can't get another ink closer to t his one.

Hopefully, but would love to have an ink similar to that one though...

If you really love this ink, you will also love Noodler's Cactus Fruit Eel with a healthy dose of Ghost Blue. The color will be similar enough and the ink will be water resistant.

Guys I've received my King Philip Ahab, I'm testing it with some Bullet proof Black and I just love it. After more research on what ink can be sort of like the King Philip, I've just order a bottle of Black Swan in Australian Roses will give you more update on that later...

Nathan was still selling bottles at this year's Commonwealth Pen Show. They said they only had a few bottles left, but if they really only had a run of 30 bottles, I'd think it would have sold out much quicker. Perhaps there was a re-release in the interim?

Glad someone else reviewed this, saves me the trouble.

Every year during my busy season, I fill a pen with Noodlers Purple Heart for the client file notes. This year, after my first fill was used up, I switched to my new bottle of King Philip. It is somewhat similar, but Philip is a brighter purple. Almost electrifying in its vividness and unique in my collection of purples, which is significant. There's a little feathering to the Purple Heart on my office's cheap paper, and there is none on this problem with the Philip. It is actually overall a superior ink. If Noodlers ever manages to secure a steady supply of this ink and put it into regular production, I would probably make this a more frequently used color.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
