What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

Received a beautiful Montblanc Ramses II LeGrand with a fine nib this week from Matteo Caffarelli in Italy. Saw his post on FB; anything but a medium nib is uncommon; the price was reasonable, so I bought it. A nice mid-year surprise!

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Would really appreciate a picture (or two+) as that's one of my grail pens.

ENJOY it, it's really a beautiful looking pen.

Lamy Ideos, stainless F. I know it isn't to everyone's taste, but I really like it.

Very nice.

As for whether it appeals to anyone else, who cares?

Impulsive pen related buy at today's flea market.

I have never seen a Platinum ink bottle that looked like this one, although I have seen similar squared-off looking ones from Pelikan. The ink is black, I think, and the bottle almost full.

Would really appreciate any information regarding rarity and value for this ink bottle. Thanks for any help.

I haven't inked it yet. Several pens are ahead of it in the rotation, so it will be a while before I know.

That's not what happens when I get a new pen.  It's, 'Welcome new friend. Have a fill of ink and show me what you can do.'

It is not a pen for the taste of many people, but I like a shape that is different and unique. It writes quite close to other Lamy pens, as the nib can be interchanged with some of them, and it has a good weight. I read somewhere that the production has been discontinued.

I should add that the teardrop shape of the grip section is far more comfortable than any conventional round shape I've ever held. It seems to naturally fit my fingers. The opposite end of the spectrum from the square Waterman Exception; I don't write for hours, so it doesn't bother me, but still I wonder what they were thinking.

I wasn't planning to buy more Pelikans right at the moment, but this was too much fun to resist: an M250 old-style from the mid-1990s, in what I think of as the "reversed" color scheme (green cap and piston knob, black barrel), into which somebody along the way retrofitted a flexy 18c OM fir tree nib, probably originally from a 1980s M600 old-style. The line is big and wet, but with character; this breadth isn't my usual thing, but I like it!

Memory’s a little hazy, but I think my last impulsive purchase was either an ASC… uh… something🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s a bronze Arco model and it matches my old OMAS Milord, though neither has been in the rotation for at least two years.

Or it might’ve been a stainless steel Lamy 2000 with a nice stub nib.

Or maybe the Columbus Extra 98.

Or a coarse nib’d Pilot 742.

I haven’t bought a new pen in quite a while, so I genuinely don’t know… 😬

Very nice! I'd rather like this one myself.

As for the discussion about certain pens not being to other people's tastes- don't worry about that at all. Buy what you like! 😁

I ordered a Kaweco Student 70s Soul pen with M nib because the price for that one was around 15% off, or $57.87. It’s the Student with the orange cap. I think it will be filled with Robert Oster Orange Rumble ink. It was described as a 70s shade of orange; read that somewhere.
