Smart move Sid. I'm not that smart...

Having purchased a number of your pens and had several "mail" exchanges with you, Doug, I know very well that that statement is inaccurate. Very inaccurate!

Waterman Gentleman Sterling Silver Godron FP (w/ converter) & RB at my favorite (the only one I currently visit) flea market.

There were  several vendors with multiple pens that I might have purchased, however, I have decided to be more selective with my purchases.

Man, we need flea markets like that down here. Very nice.

I wish I could say that it is easy, and I can not. What I can say is that, for me, it is fun and has paid off well over the years (3 years, I think) since I began going.

I think it was impulsive. Mostly because I used to have access to the Kaweco sub on Reddit. A few days ago I couldn’t get in, have to join. So I can only assume I accidentally unjoined it. Anyway I bought a Kaweco Hello Kitty Stardust pen that only comes with an F nib, and a keychain.

Cleo Skribent, 14K F. The clip is what made me buy it. Now I can hold it, I find the cap and barrel are a surprising 11-sided shape. It's an unusual purple-brown marble ebonite. Altogether a curious pen.

I almost bought one years ago. Very nice pen.

Bought a Cross Calais just now. I hadn't planned on it, but it was cheap and I couldn't resist. New in the box for 7.80 USD. Shipping and tax came to 10.00

Pics when it gets here.

I didn't know the Cross Calais, so I looked it up. Okay, what is the "Cross swivel-action propel/repel feature"? When I Google that phrase I find that a number of Cross pens have it.

It sounds like something that could be handy at a speed-dating event.

Yeah, that’s what got me. And I’m not especially a Hello Kitty fan. But that kitty is 50 this year, so what the heck. Now Kaweco has the glitter Sea Spray pen.

Bwahaha! I had put the Kaweco Sea Spray 2025 pen and a nib unit in a cart a few days ago. I opened the website to take the nib out, and see what shipping would be on the pen only. Shipping at $6.95 didn’t seem bad. And then, finally, I’m able to use credit cards rewards points on a purchase. It saved me $15.88 on the pen. Cool!

I don’t know if it’s impulsive exactly, as it’s long been on my list of pens to acquire, but I just received word that a Parker T-1 in F/M was on the market at a very good price. I have never clicked that fast before. It’s on the way to me and should be here next week.

Felt awful about crossing a few cool fps out of my "must have" list and also very awful about not being able to find and get what I'd like so went ahead and wasted the money I was saving (to buy one of those crossed out ones) on a pen I didn't actually want... It's a Conway Stewart with original gold flex nib, "The Conway Pen", said to be restored what I doubt and I paid directly (no eBay safety transactions, etc) so I might get scammed even... Well, I'll see the next week when it arrives. Never wanted a Conway Stewart because of how popular and famous they are, but I needed a BHCR vintage flex pen and a restored one so I won't have to wait till I have enough energy and time to restore it myself and this offer was the closest I could get for the money I gathered, hence I took the risk. I don't think I won't like this pen, but it never even was on my wishlist. Yeah could buy a bunch of vintages and restore them later, but I want to enjoy a good flex pen ASAP and I can't gather myself to even fix the over-tight threads issue my Mentmore has (I guess that's my impostor syndrome and the panic dread of failures lol, I didn't resac a pen in months already...). Well, hopefully I will enjoy this one if it arrives at all. All in all my fave pen at the moment is the pen I never wanted and considered awful and ugly before I inked it up and realised I'm in love, and it wasn't even a flex pen - just an old third-tier with a steel nib

I will point out that popularity and fame are earned and not given. Conway Stewart pens included.

Am aware, I do not consider Conway or other popular pens being famous for nothing. They earned it, obviously. But I myself started to prefer mostly less known brands. As example, one of my dream pens is Kingswood. That is Eversharp-made. Sub-brands and third-tier brands are the ones I'm after. 'Tis just how I feel about my collection. Yeah I have some of the most common collectables - Parker 45 or Lamy Safari as example. But after some time spent in this hobby I realised that beautiful less popular third-tier and sub-branded pens are the ones I genuinely want in my collection more than other options. Doesn't mean I will never buy others or I think bad about others, no way. But okay, some brands don't attract me by how their pens look in general, but this still doesn't mean I think they did not earn their fame.
