What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

Ordered a vintage Swan (the Japanese one) pocket pen in purple pearly finish as my spouse desired it pretty much recently - exactly the pocket version. I was supposed to be on a pen starvation, but hey this one isn't for me so it doesn't count (at least I hope so).

Retro 51 Jefferson, medium nib. Seemed appropriate for the 4th of July weekend in the US.

Attached are the week’s results from my appalling lack of impulse control. The Montblanc 144 flat top started it all. Not something you see every day. Or, ever. Couldn’t resist.  Neat little pen, will do separate write up in MB section. Went to Dromgoole’s yesterday to pick up some ink I’d ordered. Somehow that always works out in their favor ha ha. Inked my MK1 Parker Duofold Centennial on Friday and when my wife wrote with it she offered her opinion on how nice it would look in her case! Red flag. Dromgoole’s saved the day by having this lovely Jasper Red MKII International on hand. Wonderful pen and she certainly deserves it. Browsing the Pelikan display I noticed what appeared to be a M1000. The internet said they had zero M1000 but we all know how the internet lies! Only one in the store and just my color too.

  I had no idea that a flat top 144 existed, now I’m going to keep an eye out for one. Your wife has very good taste! 😂

Yes, that flat top is a gorgeous pen, and I would assume a wonderful nib. 

 

I won't receive my bling for a couple of months, but will report back.  I find it depressing that pens like this are usually bought and stored.  I've seen several for sale, but all of them, including mine, are essentially NOS.  I intend to use this puppy.

Thank you @Penguincollector and @lascosas. Have posted the little info I have on the 144 flat top in the Montblanc section. Yes, the nib is excellent. Couple of folks at Dromgoole’s tried it and thought so too. I’ll pass on your kind words to Kim. She loves red so it was perfect for her. @lascosas we’re like-minded. Pens, knives, air guns, slot cars, etc. We figure their highest and best use is to use them for what they were intended and we don’t buy things we’re not going to use. Some get used more lightly than others, but all get used. I know there are those that disagree, no issue with that. Makes it possible for folks like us to get NOS items ha ha ha. Looking forward to hearing about your pen when you (gasp) ink it and write with it.

Picked up a Dunn Pen at the flea market yesterday. On Richard's Pens, his "Glossopedia" mentioned that the company/pen was from around the early 1920's. The clip, which is N. Silver, is imprinted Pat., 6-2-14, 11-3-14. I'm unsure about anything beyond what Richard Binder mentions on his site.

 

Along with that pen, I also picked up 7 other BCHR pens, including a 2 1/2 inch skinny little ring-top pen with the word "Tiny" stamped on the (gold?) nib.

  The Hongdian M2 is a Prime Day special, so I ordered one with a soft fine nib in midnight blue.

Found this pen on fleabay and thought it very attractive. It's a button filler and just under 5^_1/4" capped. 14k nib. Came from Italy and I have been unable to find out anything about it.

Apis model unknown, GP steel F nib. I bought it just for the novelty as my first, and probably only, Korean pen.

 

I don't know what to make of the little plaque on the clip. I could certainly do without it, but then the pen was quite inexpensive.

 

Apis is the genus of the honeybee. Any connection, do you suppose?

Cross Metropolis, 18K M. No band on the plastic cap, so we'll see how long it lasts without cracking. Anyone know if this is one of their Sailor nibs?

Waterman Gentleman Sterling Silver Godron FP (w/ converter) & RB at my favorite (the only one I currently visit) flea market.

There were  several vendors with multiple pens that I might have purchased, however, I have decided to be more selective with my purchases.
