Nice choice! It's a lovely blue.

And congratulations on the Parker on its way! Fingers crossed it'll be a gem that just didn't photograph well.

Thanks!

The Diplomat Viper in brown arrived today. I don't really name inanimate objects, but combined with my other hobby of Egyptology, it will now and forever be Wadjet.

Now, to give it a new-pen-cleaning and give it a spin.

Very nice, it's screaming for a red or orange ink to complete the snake look.

So much for my resolve in not ordering more pens (and stuff) on AliExpress.

On order:

  • one very overpriced Majohn M2 in orange, at easily double the average effective price I paid for the other ones (all in dark colours, and with black-coated nibs) I have
  • two Majohn V60 piston-fillers with triangular cross-section
  • three Jinhao 10 with retractable nibs, just to see how good or poor they are (with regard to nib performance, cap seal effectiveness, pen body finish, and interoperability with genuine Pilot Capless nib assemblies)
  • two more of the Profuture Lab snap-cap (but otherwise Sailor Procolor 500 ‘inspired’) pens — I figured if AmandaW is happy with hers, then at under US$4 a pen taxed and delivered it's a good enough ‘penabling’ pen
  • seven colours of el cheapo Karkos ink (being a brand of which I don't have any)

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

1993 Parker 75 in Thuya lacquer. My first 75, my first purchase from Peyton Street Pens (who I owe a big thank you to), and my first 18k gold nib. Pictures tomorrow if the sun cooperates.

She is more than happy with hers. 'Delighted' would be a good word. I am also 'astounded' because I cannot see them for much under $40. I do not know how you do it. B)

It took me a few days to get around to filling it because I had difficulty putting the autumn-colour Lorelei 667 aside to give the Profuture some time.

Will work for pens...

None for a while, but have the Arkansas Pen Show this weekend.  I'll be back Monday to post my show impulse buys!

The colourway you like so much is the only one, out of five available for that pen model, that your least favourite AliExpress seller seems to have quite a few units to get rid of at US$4.48 apiece, before tax and delivery. For up to the first three ‘Choice’ orders placed via the AliExpress app on one's mobile device on any given day, a coupon offer would come up in the app immediately after placing an order, such that if another order — for something among a very limited subset of ‘Choice’ items (and options thereof), and the order value has to exceed US$3 — is placed within 60 minutes, delivery is ‘free’ (and assumed tacked onto ‘consolidated’ shipment for the ‘Choice’ order that just has been placed) and a discount of US$1 applies, although tax payable on the order does not take that discount into account.

US$(4.48-1.00) + GST of 10%*US$(4.48) = US$3.93, taxed and delivered. I didn't see much else that I wanted to buy from that limited selection for between US$3–$5, to make the $1 discount matter significantly.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. I'm torn between an orange (favorite color) and Noce Moscato ink from Leonardo--it's a very pretty brown (to me. May be a little too red for some folks, but a nice chocolate to my eyes.)

I just bought the BMW Starwalker. I wasn’t planning to, but it was $327 on BMW NW and my husband said that I should. Bless that man, he enables like no other.

I bought this inexpensive Waterman Kultur recently, in teal. It started out slightly dry for my taste, but a very minimal adjustment corrected that. I like it! It’s currently my only pen inked with blue ink. I also have an inexpensive Waterman Allure, which I don’t use much because it’s sort of a boring black. I think I’ll eventually get a Hemisphere or Carene.

At the London Pen Show at the Onoto stall I ordered a new Onoto Prospero with plunger filler. The pen is amazingly beautiful but the cap opens with four turns. Not pleased I wrote the Director of the company lamenting my issue. He promptly replied to send it back that they can make the cap open in one and a half turns. Shipped back and waiting for them to do their magic 🙂

Just jumped onboard the Sailor Pen Wagon (my first Sailor pen) from Endless Pens. Stacked my discounts on both the pen and a brown (knurled twist) converter so the price was good. The specifics: Sailor Fountain Pen - Shikiori "Kusa Asobi" - Tsurubami (Autumn Brown) / Fine.

Will probably get it mid to late next week. I really liked the look of the material.

A grey day is really a silver one that needs Your polish!
