What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

An Omas Ogiva Peach Bellini, which I received on February 11. I was amazed at how wonderful the nib wrote right out of the box. But in a week I can no longer get the pen filling mechanism to close. I am so disgusted. And I haven't heard back from Omas. I am really, REALLY disappointed. I expect a multi hundred dollar pen to be a little better made than this.

I would be more than disappointed. If OMAS didn't respond within, say, 3 business days, I would be starting the process for a chargeback on my credit card or paypal or whatever payment method I might have used. And once they hear they might have the money clawed back, I think I would hear from them right away. This is completely unacceptable.

The old Ogiva's dissembled easily... this is how mine came apart...

A Kaweco AC Sport Red with Black Carbon Fiber, with a Fine nib.  Aack, the first pen purchase of the new year, that wasn't supposed to happen until mid-April.

Cult Pens have a half-price sale on Graf von Faber-Castell and now I have an India Red Tamitio, extra fine nib, on its way to me. I've been wanting to get one for a while now, so when I saw this sale I grabbed one right away.

My pen arrived a couple days ago. FYI, the shape is three sided with rounded corners. The section has basically the same shape. I found it quite comfortable to hold. I like the shape.

Unfortunately, the specimen I received was almost entirely a sparkly purple. Very little of the softer greens and browns. It screamed at me! "Hey! What am I doing in California? I belong in New Orleans! Am I going to miss Mardi Gras?"

I'm sure you can see the problem ...

Fortunately, I have a nephew in New Orleans who is a fountain pen enthusiast also. I sent him photos of the pen. He agreed that it definitely belongs in New Orleans and graciously consented to adopt it. I'll put it in the mail to him tomorrow.

I ended up selling mine. It was in the Juma dragon skin resin but in a matte finish.  I liked the pen and would have kept it but the matte finish just didn't work for me.

I'd long been interested in Radius after reading about them here on FPN, so when an Extra showed up at an affordable price from a known eBay seller... Even though I don't like marbled finishes or gold trim.

It seems in good condition and well restored. Not sure if the material would be said to have chatoyance, different layers show through depending on the light. The nib next to a major Vacumatic's, not a big pen itself:

The smooth nib flexes when pressed, which I do not do. I really had to think long and hard about which ink to use since as a button filler it doesn't seem easy to clean, finally went with Vert Empire after eventually dislodging whichever blue ink was in it.

I'm assuming it's made of celluloid, so now I have a trio from three countries:

Asvine P20 in amber. Curiosity got the better of me and I look forward to the perplexed expression on people's faces when I tell them the brand name.

You could tell them it's French and pronounce the name ... as- vin- nay. As like "he stood as still as a stone"; vin as in"Vincent" and "nay as in ...no way it's Chinese".

Actually, it sounds classier that way.

I'm convinced. Anything will help; I'm already considering options for quieting down that Greek-key band.

The new Red-marbled M200 in EF and matching B/P. Damn you, Novelli!

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

That one is going to be available in March, correct? I will probably have to take a look at it...

Me three.

Although, I have to say that the thought of paying $150-$200 for an Pelikan M200 somehow seems way out of balance.

Also, keep in mind that by then it may be even higher in the U.S. because of gov't add-ons.
