I just ordered this beauty yesterday with a broad Cypress steel nib. I’m debating between a Bock 14k music nib or a BB platinum or palladium 23k Bock ground to a curved arch from fpnibs.com to pair with it. I’ll decide on the replacement nib after writing with the pen for a few weeks.

The pen is the Cypress Kawari-Nuri Twining Golden Blue Flat Top. I wanted to try out the brand with one of their mid-end lacquer over ebonite offerings before going nuts on all of the great looking designs they have.

Wow, it looks like I need one as well...in blue...let me know your writing experience.

You?  Or the pen?

When you get it inked up, please post pix so we can see just how much "flex" there actually is in the nib (I know almost nothing about Faber-Castell pens, only pencils...).

Based on my personal experience and usage, these pens are not scratchy at all. However, I should note that I refrain from using European ink brands, as they tend to be slightly more viscous compared to their Japanese counterparts. Furthermore, I have been utilising fountain pens since my early primary school years and have accumulated extensive experience with various fountain pen makes and nib types.

Hi-

What do you mean when you use the word, "viscous"?

I haven't received the pen yet, but here's a sample writing of the same pen sold by Peyton St. Pens... for reference.

Oh, well, here I am again, the second time in a week.

When I ordered the Pelikan M200 Copper Rose Gold it was because I loved the look of the TWSBI 580 White Rose Gold, but was a bit wary of recent reports of the decline in TWSBI customer service and also wanted a nicer nib. You know how that purchase turned out, but tonight I was on Cult Pens (some people watch Netflix, some people doomscroll, we FPNers look at photos of ink samples and nibs) and I saw the Nahvalur Original Plus Matira Quartz. For the price, I’ll take the risk! At that price, even if I don’t like it when it turns up, I’ll keep it and at the very least use it for testing new inks.

I’ve been curious about the Kaweco Sport brass for a while (I love a brass pen), I wasn’t sure if I’d like the size of the pen, so I ordered the Cult Pens Exclusive Kaweco Skyline Sport in Transparent Silver. Again, for the price it’s worth a try.

I’ve spent all these years avoiding plastic pens (apart from the pen ships I love using for testing new ink), and now I’ve purchased five pens in space a week.

It’s really handy having everybody’s screen names here on the forum, usually addicts have to stand up and give their names before they make their weekly announcements, we save so much time. 🖊️

After dithering for days over a bunch of pens, I bought a different one... they were all blue with an extra fine nib. 💙

I'm getting the Faber Castell Hexo.

Will work for pens...

Just bought a Pelikan M200 Demonstrator (F).

Good thing it's not coming from China. Just saw that the USPO has suspended all packages from China.

OOPS, just saw that it's back now!

I guess someone important must be waiting for a pen (or two) from China. Maybe Jeff at Amazon?

That's sounds like a bummer if you are expecting anything.

My latest "impulses are coming from Connecticut, Montana and Miami... luckily.

Finally got hold of a Mentmore Spot. Its been on my want list for a while, just waiting for one in good shape at a sensible price. I thought £30 inc p&p wasn't too shabby. Also picked up a wrecked Sheaffer for a £5 as it had a button converter.

I have both of the pens you mentioned. The Brass Sport is heavy. For me, it’s fine for an A5 notebook page a day. Kaweco pens seem to write after many days of neglect. I hope, when capped, the Kaweco Sport is comfortable for you.

Stopped at a local antiques store near me and spotted this 1940's Sheaffer Triumph 1250 pen in striated brown and gold trim.  The pen is in great cosmetic condition and was offered at a good price.  Of course, the vacuum filling system needs to be restored.  I really didn't need another project pen, but I knew I'd be kicking myself later if I didn't buy it.  I'm happy I did.  I'll eventually give it to Ron Zorn to bring it back to life!

Really good looking pen. Enjoy it.

I'm looking forward to spring and the return of flea markets and yard sale.

They are fun and that's where I have a lot of my successes in finding pens. I also enjoy meeting all those new and older friends.

Thanks!  I love flea markets, yard sales and estate sales, too.  However,  finding good pens in those places has become a fairly rare occurrence for me in recent years.  It seems like fewer good vintage pens are available, and the competition for them has increased.  Nevertheless, I love the thrill of the hunt and finding a nice pen like the Sheaffer is a nice reward.

So I just received the pen last night. I got it with Cypress’ in house steel B nib, fully intending to replace it with a customized Bock nib in gold, platinum, or palladium later this month.

That being said, my impressions of the stock steel nib are mixed. As sent to me, the tip was fully pinched closed, and took some bending of the tines using Richard Binder’s method to open the slit up enough to actually write. On the other hand, it’s smooth with a touch of pleasant feedback now that I’ve done that (similar to a corse Platinum 3776 nib in feel and flow). So not terrible, but still not fully functional out of the box.

On the whole I’m happy with what I received at the price I paid for it.

After recommending a fude for drawing with line variation I went to see what's available. Jinhao 86 with an Art nib and a converter. AU$5.48 inc shipping. Couldn't resist.

Will work for pens...

A couple of vintage Parkers at a late-posted (especially for that company) listing for an estate sale: a Forest Green 51 Aerometric; and a red (maroon?) Parker Laidtone Duovac/Duofold, which may have a replacement cap or blind cap -- (it's got the early Senior style flanked cap band, but the later style long blind cap (without a finial).

ETA: Because of the issues with parking (I got to the sale an hour before it opened and there were already about 25-30 people in line; by the time the doors opened the line was down the driveway and about halfway to the cross street from the end of the driveway... :o) I ended up sort of meandering up to the next intersection from where I was parked and said, "Hmmm.  I'll guess going to the right...."  And it turned out that the street I turned onto was called Parker Road!

Stipula Adagio Grotta Azurra

In this color, the pen was exclusively released for the company Truphae in a limited series of 300 pieces (not numbered). The pen is relatively inexpensive, you can order it on the Truphae website for $140.

The pen is quite large and weighty (14 cm with a cap and about 42 grams).

The polishing of the body cannot be called ideal, the nib is steel - all this shows that the pen is inexpensive, but, in general, I liked the pen more than not. large.IMG_0674.jpeg.fb0f08d6a91bd8003513935f42b4e30e.jpeglarge.IMG_0676.jpeg.da59ff517e91b4707f770a968e2ee39c.jpeg
