Montblanc Boheme Platinum, Large (no gemstone on clip), 2002IMG_0639.thumb.jpeg.53d61a2e48de7435a67b1adfd6ffc152.jpeg

Retractable nib, small cartridges only

Nib #6 (like LeGrand/146), 18k, medium. Not a smoothest nib, but not bad at all.

Pen is really big. From top to bottom:

- Legrand

- Boheme Large

- Boheme medium (fixed nib)

- Boheme small

Now I have all 3 Boheme sizes

Not sure what the next impulsive purchase will be (because it will be an impulsive purchase!) but I do know when... St. Louis Pen show coming up June 23-25th.

I have some interesting goodies for the St. Louis show.

Just to satisfy my curiosity and because it was cheap, I had a Filcao Roxy Ogiva piston filler with 14K nib in cappuccino celluloid on my watch list on eBay. The seller offered a $24 discount, so I bit. The whole thing is $90 all in. My main question is whether it's really a 14K nib or just plated. It's supposed to be NOS from 2012, without the box. Supposedly its original retail price was $450. So I'm more than a little suspicious. It's coming from Italy, so it will be a couple of weeks at least before I see it.

A Sailor Shikiori Setsugetsu Soraha Shizuriyuki with 14K gold MF nib, for just under €50; and a Sailor Shikiori Tsukuyo-no-minamo Shimoyo with steel F nib along with it.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Kaweco Dia 2 M nib

I have a 50s Dia 85A steel nib

Wanted to compare the two. The new one is with cartridges/converter. Vintage is piston filler, but I don't like the nib it has 🙄

2020 (I think) Lamy al-Star SE Gold and Black, M nib.  Spotted it on the Cult Pens website and thought I liked the look of it better than the (standard) Yellow Safari.  Hit the buy button on it (and seven bottles of ink) this morning....

I was trying to find a slightly more expensive pen to cut down on the ink purchases but still hit the threshold for free shipping, but didn't see anything that really spoke to me in the mid-level price range; plus, my husband started to freak out a bit when I said I was looking at pens costing four to five times the price of the al-Star and a converter for it....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Pilot Myu, the plain steel one. I guess I wanted to see what the very moderate fuss was about.

Well, as expected, my latest impulse purchase of pens did happen at the St. Louis Pen Show this last weekend, and yes gweimer1 did sell one of them to me!

Pen finds from the St. Louis pen show this weekend:

Parker 51 Plum Demi
Parker 75 - 1976 Independence Hall LE
Visconti Midnight Kaleido Voyager
Parker Oversize Burgundy Pearl Vacumatic Canadian with flexy nib
Parker Sr flattop Duofold in black and pearl (only pen I actually planned to buy if I could find a clean example)
Fake MB Rouge et Noir coral (just for fun)
Aurora bp

I hesitate to say this, because I've sold a few at very good prices but also at a fairly large profit (and continue to do so, including the Murex), but, as a writer, it's reliable but nothing special, like many nails. The aesthetics of it are unique, of course - and quite nice to my eye - but not beautiful enough to keep (my visual taste has changed much more to beautiful lacquer/urushi pens with simple designs), especially since its writing qualities don't inspire me to use them (and then there's the profit thing, of course).

But please don't let me bias your thoughts. Please let us know what you think when you get it and have a chance to use it.

Wow, I am a 'non-serious' collector of Parker 75s, and I had never heard of that one. The P75 was super popular here in Thailand when it was sold new - now are fairly ubiquitous second-hand - but I am not surprised I've never one of those here.

It doesn't quite look like a P75 - or it least it stretches the design quite a bit. I saw "Parker 75" in your text, then looked at your picture and though, "There's no P75 here." :D

I had to go look it up: https://parker75.com/Reference/Bicentennial/Bicentennial.htm

It was an interesting find, it did not come with the fancy box and papers.

@PAKMAN your pen haul from St. Louis is wonderful. Was it a lot of fun there?

It was a great show, good venue and lots of vendors, you could find just about anything. Got some items at really good prices. We had a great time.

I was prepared for this, having heard this before. As it happens, some of my best writers are nails, or at least lack any sign of softness or flexibility (I assume that's the definition of "nail" but I'm not positive, there often seems to be some further negative implication in the term). I am fortunate to be in the position where I can afford, occasionally, to indulge my curiosity and then take a loss if I turn around and sell it on.

Since you asked, I will report on it when I get it.

Montblanc № 622 "Junior". An inexpensive school/student pen, produced around 1971-75. Plastic body, steel M nib, piston filling, good condition.

I collect Montblanc pens, so I'm happy with the purchase.

Students' Montblanc pens were well-made instruments . I miss them and other low-end pens that the company discontinued in an effort to be the dominant name in the luxury field.

I don’t know if it was impulsive or not. I bought a Retro 51 fountain pen in orange. It’s a discontinued color. It was the last one at the online store I got it in.
