An Onoto Minor, to which I added a Parker 61 with an heirloom cap I've been ogling, to take advantage of having crossed a free shipping threshold.

This morning it's been what I *think* is a Sheaffer Touchdown set, and a lever filler Waterman Ideal.  There were a couple of other pens at the estate sale, but nothing I really wanted (I was tempted by the No Nonsense, even though it was a ballpoint -- simply because it was some sort of Steelers memorabilia; but decided I didn't need it THAT badly).  And then had to go fill up the gas tank on the minivan at nosebleed prices (which, frighteningly enough) was still cheaper per gallon at the local BJ's than at the Sunoco I put about 5 gallons in yesterday after taking my husband to the ER (put in just enough gas to get back down to the hospital and get home, and then go to an estate sale this morning, and then fill up the tank for real....

Not an actual pen, but a 'pen' of sorts -- an ink jet pen, er, printer.  Also, not an actual impulse since its predecessor of about 15 years decided to 'expire' in an untimely and particularly bloody (well, messy) manner making the purchase a necessity.

I bought, and just finished installing a new HP Office jet printer since the printhead on the one I had decided to 'bleed' ink throughout the working parts of said printer and make itself (the printhead) magically, effectively 'disappear' and unrecoverable.

Oh. Right, that was me.

@gregamckinney That is a great pen. I couldn't resist after seeing the photos and was not disappointed when it arrived. I have the factory M.

After 15 years of coming into pen seriously, I decided to finally add a worthy Montblanc 149. Up until now the only MB I've owned and used was a 146, and I didn't jump at just any new pen. This 149 is from the seventies or early eighties. It has an M/F bi-color nib, ground to a stub by Richard Binder, a split ebonite feed, plastic threads, and a one-piece body with crystal-clear ink windows. It is in excellent condition and works perfectly in every way. I returned home from our local pen club today just as it showed up, three days early. The kicker was that I sold my 146 at club, which makes two happier people in the world.

It seems that Soennecken pens share a trait with Pelikans: Where there is one, there are soon going to be more.

Just one month after having bought my first one, a green striped 333 Superior, which can be seen here:

I was offered a 111 Extra in dark tortoise this week. Got the offer on Wednesday, the pen arrived on Thursday for me to take a close look and decide, whether I want it or not, finally got around to testing it today and it didn't take long to decide it´s definitely staying.

Here are a few quick pictures for you:

I wasn´t prepared for the difference in size between the Superior and the Extra. The Superior is about the size of a Pelikan M400. But the Extra is very much the same size as a Pelikan M600, where someone has mounted the nib of an M800. That nib looks humongous! I love the intricate pattern of this celluloid and also its transparency that can be seen below the cap rings. As it is a perfect match, I have inked it up with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Brown.

I had been eyeing the sea-green version of this pen, but now I have impulsively decided, that this tortoise version is truly pretty as well and will stay with me. (Which of course doesn´t mean that I am not eyeing the sea-green anymore. 😅)

@carola, I am truly in awe, that’s a stunning pen. Congratulations! (I’ve just filled my 222 Extra, maybe I’ll be lucky and it will attract a friend.)

@JonSzanto sounds fabulous: that was the same period and nib style (in a F/EF) that I eventually went for, though mine lacks the special Binder nib! I hope you enjoy it.

That is a magnificent pen - big congratulations!

@carola -- Wow!  That is a pretty pen!  I don't know anything about the brand, so don't have a good idea about the size and weight of it, or what the fill system is.

Well, as I said, the size is pretty much that of a Pelikan M600 and I didn't weigh it, but I would say the M600 feels heavier. It´s a piston filler, but while the 333's piston works exactly like the Pelikan pistons, the 111's is a click piston, where you have to know that you need to pull the knob out before turning it. And to turn it back until it clicks (hence the name).

Also, especially the 111 models with the herringbone pattern (there are 6 colours, light tortoise, dark tortoise, sea-green, rosewood, silver-grey and black-silver, apart from the humble completely black model) come at what you would call "nosebleed prices", starting with the smallest size, the "Lady", getting worse with the medium size, the "Superior", and reaching its peak with the biggest size, the "Extra". I was lucky to get a good price for the 333 Superior and the 111 Extra, but still the 111 cost me triple the price of the 333.

Bought a Kaweco All Sport aluminum the other day. Pulled it out in the sound booth today at church and my counterpart said, "another pen?" Writes better than my other Kaweco, but both are good. I like a pen I can throw in my pocket and worry about breaking it.

Nice - I haven't seen that finish before (but I haven't seen many Fidelios).

The nib is small but, on mine, at least, it maintains a reliably consistent and a little wet flow. Its Latin name is very fitting, I think. Enjoy!

I barely remember completing the transaction at about 4am this morning but I purchased a Waterman Le Man Opera 100 from a Redditor.  I’ve been on the lookout for once of these after seeing an advertisement for it. Absolutely love the look of it and at the price even if it doesn’t write perfectly I can afford to have the nib modified and it’ll still be a steal.

@JasonR, well done, especially if "100" is the price as well as the name of the pen! Those big Man 100 nibs are (in my limited experience) really pleasant, springy writers, even unmodified; I hope you're pleased. What nib grade did you get?

@InkyProf  Not quite that low, but not too far off...  It's a medium, so plenty to work with if I decide not to keep it as is.   I'm very much looking forward to receiving it, and it went out in the post today.  I thought my first Waterman would be a vintage, and though it isn't, it has that classy vintage look with the chasing reminiscent of hard rubber...

Just when I thought I would have a quiet May purchase-wise, two more pens are set for arrival.  At least I've offset them with some sales to keep my guilt under control :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
