What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

Did you look under the pen holder? I ask since there is a honey bee sticker on yours. Stickers are not usual with Monteverde.

I went back and checked. There is an outer cardboard box where the ink bottle would have been because there is enough room for an ink bottle. Inside the cardboard box was a nice box, see picture, but no bee sticker anywhere inside.

Ah, I see. Pity about the lack of ink. I wonder what happened there.

The outdoor flea market that I usually go to closed for the season last week.

Imagine my surprise when I got a text late this week, from someone whom I met earlier in the summer, telling me he found some pens for me. I asked fro some pictures and he reciprocated with two "grouped"  pictures to my cell phone. It was more of a confirmation that he did have pens (and mechanical pencils) than being able to identify anything specific.

As he was located about 20 miles away we decided that I would visit him to see the pens in person. I ended up buying the following:

A Waterman Pen & Pencil (don't know the model/no #) in a mildly discolored tortoise shell - nice acrylics, furniture & nib

Parkerette Pen & Pencil set in need of J-bar & sac

Tiny Wahl Eversharp, gold filled pen & pencil set in the original box - probably needs a J-bar & sac too

Blue Noname Flat top, corroded GP nib -it also in need of a J-bar & sac, nib work and a pocket clip.

He also gave me some mechanical pencils that he asked if I would shop for him.

A nice German made vintage, extendable w/ a perpetual calendar etched into the squared-off barrel

A Wahl/Eversharp Sterling pencil from the 20's/30's (my guess)

A very slender, extendable, gold filled pencil which I would estimate from late 1800's/early 1900's.

A 4-color chrome pencil w/ several extra colored leads - probably from the 50's/60's

Oh yes, and the Waterman set came in an interesting Morrison (vintage probably?) box.

All and all, it was a good pen day AND, I can sleep late on Sunday (tomorrow).

Who knows, maybe the winter will not be as quiet, pen-wise, as I thought?

(Pictures might follow at some time soon).

Wishing all, here in the U.S. a good thanksgiving. Or, as I usually say, "Happy Bird-Day"

Thank you :) No, these are not chocolate, these are old plastic toys.

Over the weekend we went to an event for the other hobby, and I had TWO people in the space of maybe a minute and a half told me that there was someone on the lower level back porch of the building who had some fountain pens for sale.  This was particularly weird, since the event was sewing/costuming and various fiber arts classes -- but you never know when the two hobbies decide to intersect....

So I went to have a look, and ended up picking up a grey Sheaffer Snorkel (not sure of the model yet, but it's got a white dot on the cap, a fairly wide cap band and has a two-toned nib that appears to be an EF); and a blue vintage Parker Duofold with a black cap and end cap (again, not sure of the specific model/size, and it doesn't appear to have a date code on it, but I think it's a button filler and also may have an EF or F nib on it.

I literally got home from the event about a quarter to two in the afternoon (it's now roughly ten of 5 PM), and mostly have been trying to get a head start on laundry, so just catching up on FPN now in between laundry loads....  So haven't had time to research the two pens yet.

Passed on the other two (one was a Conklin; don't remember what the other pen was offhand, because I didn't know enough about them to make an offer).  Didn't really need another Snorkel (especially since I think i have at least one in that color already) but couldn't resist.  And of course, the Duofold (although it needs a major rehab on the fill system) was just GORGEOUS....

Of course, I'm gonna be spending a lot of time this evening trying to narrow down what the two pens are as far as model/size, in between more laundry....

Aaugh! Curse words. I had a notify me on the Retro 51 Sprinkle Ops pen with 1.1mm stub nib. I figured it was gone. But today an email that it’s back in stock. Curses! I already bought it with a sad M nib. Waah!

I've admired the Poison Apple for a while! It's a beautiful pen, and congratulations on your Maiora win! I am not familiar with either Nahalur or Maiora. The Maiora's red is gorgeous.

Thank you. Sadly, my Maiora was flawed. As someone else has commented elsewhere, there is a problem in the cap (I think the screw holding the clip on sticks out too far), and the nib got mangled by being screwed in and out. I was quite disappointed that this flaw hasn't been addressed before now. Fortunately, Pen Chalet's customer service is on top of things, and they are looking to replace the damaged pen as soon as they can source another one.

The Poison Apple is a wonderful pen, BTW. I own multiple Nahvalur pens, and haven particularly pleased with the piston fillers.

White Pilot Prera. The price was too good not to buy it. Filled with yama-budo Iroshizuku.

Did you get it on amazon? That’s where I got the porcelain white Pilot Prera.

Mocha Monteverde MP1, 1.1 mm "stub" that I jumped on at Endless Pens. Great price and free shipping after I included a couple of bottles of Parker, yes, Parker Blue ink.

A Waterman Man 100 Opera with a non-globe F nib (so, 1985–1989?), on the 'Bay, for what looked to me like a very good price. It was an ink-splattered mess in the pictures, but as I hoped, it cleaned up nicely and appears to be in fine shape, other than lacking a converter (an appropriate older Waterman converter is en route), with only one pinhead-sized spot of corrosion on the very bottom of the trim ring and a little bit on its front (nib-facing) edge, i.e., not enough to compel me to replace the ring.

@Gloucesterman I hope you like the MP1 as much as I do mine. On some of mine I really have to pull on the end to unlock the piston. On two of mine, I have three, I have to use one of those kitchen rubber jar grabbers so my hand doesn't slip off the end as I pull.

Thankfully I haven’t had any lately. I’ve been buying up Victorinox knives lately. My sickness is spread across many hobbies.

Current lineup:

Just got a Leonardo Momento Zero in Sorrento blue - best writing Italian pen I've ever owned.  The resin quality and fit/finish are very impressive.  I thought I'd sworn off Italian pens but Leonardo appears to have rekindled the fire.
