Late last night, after looking at the Pen Chalet April Fool’s Day offerings, I looked elsewhere.  I ordered the Monteverde Tools fountain pen with stub nib in the rainbow colorway.

Today, it was back to Pen Chalet, where I got one of their sale pens. It’s another Monteverde, this time the Invincia Vega in Starlight Yellow. I also got a stub nib unit for it. The 10% off coupon code worked on the sale item, so I’m justifying the spending that way. I had been expecting to get one of the Starlight pens, but it had not been a priority.

I picked up another Parker 45, in one of the turquoise colors, with an Octanium nib of unknown width and a lustraloy CT cap. How auction pictures keep the same potato quality as they had in 2005 in one of the world’s great mysteries.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 31 currently inked pens:

Parker Duofold Centennial IM, RO Rose Gold Antiqua

MontBlanc Bohème Noir F, MB Midnight Blue

Platinum PS-5000(?) EF, Platinum Mixable Aqua

MontBlanc for BMW IM, MB Green with SC-15

Parker True Blue Ringtop F, Quink Blue-Black

Bought the Jinhao 80 Red wine xf and brown f on Amazon $9.99 each.  Lamy 2000 clones.  Pretty nice writers so far.

I have those in brown and dark blue, @PAKMAN. They’re lovely, and the Lamy nibs fit perfectly. I had a Z55 EF on the brown one.

I have a Lamy Al-Star nib in 1.1 stub that isn't in a pen right now. Will probably try it in one of these.

A Stipula da Vinci Caribbean. Sort of handsome, transparent red acrylic body and a metal outer sleeve with cross-bones cutouts to expose the red underneath. But the mechanism was super loose, almost rattle-y, not the smooth, solid thing one would expect from a $900 pen. Immediately requested to return it, didn't even have to wait for a reply - boom, here's an RA and shipping label, send it back. Dropped it off at Fed-Ex this morning.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

A clipless Franklin-Christoph Model 20 in Tiger Red, a new batch of which has been released this week, apparently. I've been waiting for an acrylic that grabbed me. Went with an EF SIG.

That sounds like a nice pairing.

What will likely be my last new pen for the year (fingers crossed): A Schon Dsgn Titanium Shell pen with the new Cursive Monoc nib. I was going to try to pick up one last new Leonardo in celluloid, but decided to go with a somewhat cheaper pen and use the savings to stock up on imported paper and ink.

I’ll make sure to post some with a writing sample when I receive it. I’ve poked around and was surprised to see no reviews or impressions of these pens yet online. You’d think someone would have thoughts on a $900 pen they purchased.

Ordered another Diplomat Viper, in blue this time. I've been loving my brown one so much that I got another as an EDC because I'm protecting my brown one by leaving it at home. M nib, this time.

ETA: Forgot 2 that arrived - Lamy AL-Star Aubergine and Platinum 3776 "Shape of Heart--Bluebird), both in F nibs.

A Sailor TUZU ADJUST in (2025 new colour) light blue with M nib, because… discounted on Amazon.

First I saw it on Reddit, then in a blogpost from Pen Boutique, that caused the impulsivity. It is a Pelikan Twist in Cold Alaska. It is on sale, so…. And there are two of the Field Notes Birds and Trees of North America in the order.

I didn’t start the day or any day thinking I needed another Pelikan Twist. But it looks like a metallic green, and it will be cool with my current Twist in Candy apple red with lime grip. I looked at order history, and the red Twist is named Apple Candy red.

A brace of Pelikans. An old style burgundy and black M150 which required nothing more than a good clean and a tortoise Frankenstein. I bought the barrel very cheaply but had to buy a new cap and nib so I think it started out as a 400 but is more of a 200 spec now. The barrel is an earlier translucent type and is very pretty.

I have to give a shout out to Proto Pens (I have no involvement) who were very quick and very good. They are an American Co. but also have a European branch.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
