My blue/pink swirls arrived today; I ordered it clipless with a B Jowo nib. I'm so glad I got the model 3 instead of a 5, this is the largest pen I own. The pen beside it for comparison is a TWSBI 580. Despite the size, the Ranga is well-balanced and comfortable and the nib (which was tested before the pen was shipped - thank you!) is a delight - smooth and wet. Thank you for offering this group buy and for the Fellowship eyedropper.

Wow, that blue is pretty.

If a pen is ordered clipless, is the cap one piece only, or is the cap still two pieces of ebonite (e.g., due to the manufacturing process)?

Thanks very much!

I am anxiously awaiting mine. About another 10 days.

Hi,

I am interested in this Ranga, however, I have a few tuned Jowo nibs of my own that I want to use in it. Is there a way you can give me a price for a pen that can take Jowo units without the nib?

Thanks,

Ray

Dear Mr. rwang100 Sir,

If you don't need the nib, You can reduce the price by 15$. Please let me know.

My red and black swirls arrived today, and it's everything I expected! Beautiful pen, smooth writer, even a little too wet at first, but pushing in the nib and feed solved that problem pronto.

Thanks, Ranga! also for the eyedropper, the extra Fellowship Blackbird, and there was even a stock Wality F nib and feed included, I suppose in case I changed my mind about the Ambitious nib. But I won't! it's exactly what I wanted. And the color... very unusual. And beautiful. :)

I was out of office for the last 2 days. Sorry for the delayed reply. " Polished " would complete your requirements. Please let me know.

Thank you for your reply. In truth, I am torn between the matte and the polished finishes. No one seems to have requested the matte. Is there a problem or issue that I should be aware? My first inclination is the matte, but am wondering why I am in such a tiny minority. Does anyone care to comment?

Matte looks best in regular color ebonites... no issue as such... probably all other have the matte ones in stock...

Matte looks best in Black though...almost closer to lamy 2000 finish...

Since there is no particular quality/durability problem, I shall go with the matte. It is hoped that it will make the appearance "interesting" rather than just "pretty", and perhaps be more forgiving of scuffs.

Mr. Kandan --

Thank you (and ScienceChick) for answering my question about the one-piece no-clip cap.

I'd like to ask one more question before I order. In trying to decide on color, I have seen lots of photos of your "pink burgundy ripple" ebonite pens. Is the burgundy ripple rod offered now the same as pink burgundy, but just with a shorter name, or is it a different color?

Thank you again!

its the material which sometimes is darker that is burgundy or lighter which is pink.

The complete lot has a variation throughout. So it can be darker color pen that is burgundy ripple or a bit lighter color that is called pink ripple.

Hence the name is given as pink /burgundy ripple.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
