Restoring A Broken Phileas

Hey all,

This is only my second post so please excuse if this topic has been covered already.

I have a 2003-2004 Phileas that was sabotaged by one of my daughters playmates recently. The clip was torn off and the nib and section were, I believe, used to demonstrate how things magically disappear when you flush the toilet. The rest of the parts were scattered among the garden plants, and in the house. After a very interesting scavenger hunt, I discovered that this is what is left of the pen:

The Barrel
The cap, sans clip
The converter

The clip and the entire nib section are M.I.A. and presumed dead.

I contacted Waterman. They have no parts for this pen anymore I was told.

Anyone have any idea if I can get this repaired somewhere? I am worried about the cost. Maybe it would be better to just pick up a Hemisphere or something similar. Are the Hemispheres as good a writer as this wonderful little Phileas was?post-35536-0-51157400-1440810592_thumb.jpg

The Kultur is identical to the Phileas except for trim and color. Parts are interchangeable. The Phileas is glued together, there really isn't anything that can be repaired. A replacement would be the most logical thing to do.

If you search thru Waterman forum here, you will find how to put a replacement clip into the cap of a Phileas.

You could search for a donor pen. Also contact member Dutchpen to see what parts he might have that you need, like a section, with nib and feed and a clip. You never know, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

As said previously, you could use a Kultur for donor parts, but the trim will be chrome.

Good luck. I have a pen that looks just like yours. It is a pretty good pen. The Phileas is one of the Watermans that I like, for modern anyway. The Phileas, and the Kultur also, is one of the better pens around, as far as writing is concerned, most more expensive pens being glitz and bling.

That kid would be relegated to an "outside friend" status at my house, fine to climb trees with, but forbidden to enter without a life-threatening injury.
