This is a stunning colour even just in the bottle - please play with it in sunlight when you get yours - it is magical!

Thanks for the review.

This one seems to be really similar to the reformulated Herbin Rouge Hematite (I don't have that version -- I have the older stuff with the big flakes).

This one is another "maybe" ink for me.

ETA: Hate what Diamine called this one. Sounds like a stripper name....

:lticaptd: I will never see it in the same way again. I haven't tried the Rouge Haematite having recently discovered mine to have a dark gunge at the bottom that I thought (prayed, hoped...) would be gold flakes. I hate it, and I am a lover of red inks! 2 bottles Ruth! I will say that this is NOT red at all, more a warm burnt orange beautifully complimented with the gold shimmer.

Nice! And, this one goes on The List. Behind Lightning, but running neck-and-neck with Golden Sands.

You are in for a lovely treat. They are all so different and special in their own right.

My favourite among these inks so far.

It is glorious. I am glad you like it.

I wanted to add a couple of comparison pictures to emphasise the warmth of the brown. I am a great fan of Diamine's Ancient Copper and of course a comparison felt obvious and allayed a curiosity I had. I hope these are of help. The Toffee brown appears far darker than the actual ink on paper!

Thank you so much for the great reviews and for sharing the comparison swabs - that is really helpful :)

Hi Feathers (love the name and avatar!). Thank you for your kind words. I wanted to add the comparison to clarify the distinctness of this particular ink, I am really glad it has helped.

Oh, thank you! Thank you also for the comparison!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

What I really like about the Shimmertastic inks is that those I have tried I would like even without the shimmer, because the colours are nice. And even though I usually don't go for that kind of thing, I even like the shimmer.

Okay, I used to have the Letter Writers Alliance and The Snail Mail Exchange in here. Somehow, my browsers settings and the forum's settings work together to prevent that from being the case at the moment. Whenever I try to update my signature, the whole process breakls down. So. Whatever.

I love this ink. I wasn't expecting to because metalised inks can be a bit uneven. But it's actually a really nice colour and, on Rhodia, paper quite spectacular. It's near to Rouge Hematite in colour and behaviour, though the Herbin ink is much pinker and a little more subtle in its sheen. I've just ordered a whole bottle after hoovering up a sample and I might start sampling some of the others.

For the uninitiated, Diamine is the Brand? I love the inks, but you rarely get the see, touch, and feel through the internet. They are quite spectacular.

Thanks so much.

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

It just wasn't likely to have been Kodachrome.  It would have been the films I referred to as "other color films." (Kodachrome is not a generic term for color film. It is a specific film that produces transparencies, or slides, by a process not used for any other film. There are other color trans

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
