Tomoe River Paper

Hi,

I will be importing around 5000 sheets of Tomoe River paper from Japan in the next month or maybe by October through a seller friend of mine.

So, my question is, are any of you interested in trying out this paper? Maybe in a batch of 100 sheets.

My experience of exchanging or selling to members hasn't been pleasant but I hope such troubles won't arise with the local members. I would prefer not to get into too much hassle.

Edit: It's pretty much self explanatory since it has been posted in the Indian forum that this is for Indian Members only (those who live in India, not of Indian descent living outside india).

I cannot give you the cost estimate per 100 sheets because I am yet to pay anything. I am guessing it'll be around Rs. 2 per sheet/ Rs. 200 per 100 pages. Don't quote me on it though.

If interested, PM me and maybe we can work something out.

You can decide the method of posting i.e. Speed post, registered post etc. (which you will have to pay for plus the packaging costs).

Paper details:

GSM: 52 GSM

COLOR: Cream

SIZE: A4

Regards

Dhruv

Hi,

This is not a group buy. So there is no opting in or opting out. It's either you want it or you don't. Even if nobody wants any sheets, I will still go ahead with my order of 5000 sheets for personal usage. I am just giving indian members an opportunity to use the paper at less cost. I think paperforfountainpen sells it's 174 sheet journal for $40 and $50 for shipping, so the pages I will give are going to be a lot cheaper than this.

I don't know how much Rhodia costs. Never bought it or used it.

To answer your actual question, please re-read my post above. I cannot give you any sort of estimate since I am yet to pay anything. Anything i say will be an estimate for which I will take no responsibility if actual costs do come more than that. Do you pay less than Rs. 2 per sheet of Rhodia? If yes, then I don't think this is for you.

Hi Rohit,

Thank you for showing interest. I'll try to keep you all updated.

These are loose sheets and you will have to get them bind yourself. Please consider that too.

Dhruv

You're welcome. :)

If you want to order normally by yourself, you will have to go through the freight forwarding service like whiterabbitexpress(WRE), but since I am on good terms with a seller, he is going to do it for me. Freight forwarding services charge a lot and hence I decided to avoid them. :)

He is ordering the paper from tomoegawa (manufacturer) now and will be finalizing the quotation in 2-3 days.

Minimum order is 4000 sheets which I have accepted. :)

Alright, thank you for showing interest. You can probably pick it up from me whenever you come to south delhi, that way, no postage cost for you. :)

We can decide a mutually convenient location to meet.

The paper is being order from the manufacturer directly who doesn't accept an order of less than 4000 sheets. I believe they will send only of one single color. If you want 2 colors, you'll have to order 8000 sheets.

Besides, the order has already been placed.

No problem. :)

I can give you as many as you want.

One thing i forgot to mention is that you would need to pay by bank transfer, details of which I would forward you once I have the paper and all the costs. No PayPal.

Those who would pick up from me personally can pay in cash too. Do carry the change though. :P

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
