Is That A Fake Parker Sonnet?

I bought a new PARKER SONNET ballpoint pen (black) on EBAY. The seller said it was made in China and 100% genuine.

 

I discovered that the PARKER logo on the cap and the box (new PARKER logo) is NOT the logo on the refill (old PARKER logo).

 

So my pen is a fake PARKER SONNET one?

Does the pen indicate where it is made? Is there a dating code?

 

The refill might be genuine anyway.

Anyone can put an old refill in a new pen. The logo means nothing about it.

Others may correct me, but that's a normal inscription. The devil is more usually in the font, IRRC.

Sorry but it's a fake - 7 feathers on the clip isn't correct for the current style Sonnet ballpoints with the new style logo, the engraved cylindrical rings on the 'gold' plated barrel end are also incorrectly spaced and there should be 3 not 2

III0 is the date code. I don't find it in http://parkerpens.net/codekey.html

 

If it says France, it indicates made in France. I don't know about the date code, though. The table runs to 2011. Could be later. Could be a fake.

I think it's a coin toss affair. Clearly an expertizing authority on Sonnets could make some money.

Hmmm, all these fakes give me an idea. So ya want to blow your rent money on a new MB. But you're afraid your spouse will find out and the next thing you know you get served with papers. The solution is simple. All ya gotta do is find a site that sell obvious fakes, book-mark it, and then go ahead and buy that pen you have been lusting after ever since yesterday's lunch. When it comes and your spouse picks up the phone and starts dialing her/his lawyer, then is the time to point out that it was a fake that you bought and for proof, just show the web site where you bought it. Yup, it's a fake alright, but a dang good one.

 

Just make sure that you're the one who pays the bills or you'll end up sitting on top of a box car on its way to North Dakota.
