Looking forward to this evening pre-show get together, and even more so the full-on show tomorrow and Saturday. Good to see pen friends who I see once a year (or less frequently Octo ;) ) If you live in the Dallas area, or even as far away as Houston (Dramgooles will have a booth), it would be worth your while. It may not be the largest pen show in the country, but it is the nicest. Hope to see you there, tonight, tomorrow, and/or Saturday.

Thanks Kat!! Good to know, that was a mess last year! Going to try to roll in around 3 Thursday afternoon.

Dang I hope so, it was like we weren't even there!

Alright folks! Make sure you get some pictures of us to post on-line this year! I'll be in the same ole Red Hawaiian Shirt on Friday at the "The Write Pen" table. Probably just inside of the door from the registration desk. Danny is releasing back to the public some really special pens from his private collection, come by and salivate (and go home with one)!

I'll have my cowboy hat on. Not sure if it will be the white straw or grey felt.

Hmmmmmmm. Maybe I'll leave the hat home. Make it six years for me. Only missed 2010. That's the year my wife had breast cancer.

My first day of the show was a success! I bought two pens, a couple of other goodies, and my son is a little more hooked.

Seven vendors have a few of my dollars, and I got to put faces with a few names.

I'll be back in the morning.

Think I saw you there Wandering Man. I had the grey felt cowboy hat on. I bought 5 pens, 4 cheapies and a TWSBI Diamond 580 in Red, White, and Blue.

Pakman, if you still have that Sheaffer w/ the extra nibs after the show, I may have to talk to you about shipping it to me.

I had a great time and so did the friend who rode with me. I got a custom nib grind from Linda at Indy Pen Dance and some choice inks from Dromgoole's, Vaness and the Andersons.

I have to admit to being rather surprised that no nametags were given to the attendees. This really makes it hard to find someone you're looking for. I had a sticker that I had my avatar on, which I decided to wear as a type of a nametag, but it was still not as easy to see (the name on the sticker was very small). At gatherings that I have attended of much greater size, there are boards where folks trying to find each other can post notes - maybe that could be useful. Next time, I will provide my own nametag and I might even prop up a bulletin board - if they let me.

Current Daily Carry: Pilot Custom 743 with 14k Posting nib (Sailor Kiwa-Guro), Sailor 1911L Realo Champagne with 21k Extra Fine nib (Sailor Tokiwa-Matsu). Platinum Century 3776 Bourgogne (Diamine Syrah), Nakaya Portable Writer Midori with 14k Extra Extra Fine nib (Lamy Peridot), Pilot Vanishing Point Stealth Black with Extra Fine nib unit (Pilot Blue Black), a dozen Nockco DotDash index cards of various sizes and a Traveler's Notebook.

My son said he was surprised by how normal everyone seemed.

Jmmcarty3,

I'm afraid I am included in that comment.

Had a great day at the show yesterday, and was surprised to find a couple of things that I'd been looking for for years.

Started out by having Linda Kennedy at Indy-Pen-Dance straighten a Waterman L'Etalon nib that was bent at a 90˚ angle. What an artist she is! She didn't have time to finish it to her satisfaction, so she's taking it home and will ship it back to me when it's done. She also tuned a couple of Pelikan nibs for me.

Snagged the free Noodler's show ink at Dromgoole's next, and also picked up a bottle of Noodler's Texas Bluebonnet. I had ordered inks to be delivered at the show from Vanness, Pendemonium, and Anderson Pens, so I picked those up, all the while visiting with local friends and folks I'd met at the DC show. In addition to the inks I'd preordered, I got an extra bottle of BungBox 4B at Vanness and some blue and blue/black inks from Paradise Pens that had been recommended to me by the guys at Salamander pens. Salamander also sold me a bottle of de Atramentis "Tokyo," which is a nice dark brown that you don't see here very often, along with an inexpensive Chinese fude pen.

Now for the expensive part. For four or five years, I've been looking for a GvFC Intuition Platino Wood in Pernambuco, which has long been discontinued. I figured I'd see one at the DC show, but no such luck. Well, there it sat in the tray at Dromgoole's at 40% off, so I wasn't about to pass that up. Then dropped by the nice folks at Inkpen. The one model of the Pelikan City 620 series that I've lusted after is the Grand Place, but you usually see it only in the roller ball version. Well, there sat a Grand Place FP, just waiting for me.

After these frontal attacks on my bank balance, I wasn't intending to buy anything else, but then I wandered over to say hi to Bryant at Chatterley. Like several others at the show, he had a nice Aurora Optima 365, but this one had a stub nib. Ka-ching!

Will post elsewhere about the wonderful time we had at the Pelikan Hub meet-up. Will try to take some photos today.

Forgot to say that I had and insanely funny lunch yesterday with ScienceChick and TXKat. Pen folks are the best, especially FPN folks.

You have to ask for the free Noodler's ink at the Dromgoole's ink display. Don't know if there is any left. They do this every year. Unfortunately, the color for this year's Dallas show (Banker's Tan) was not nearly as attractive as the three colors Nathan made for the Boston show.
