Identifying A Conway Stewart Is It A 28 Or Even A 115?

I have some images of a conway Stewart that I would like to identify. I used Jonathon Donahayes site (OMG - it is very good) and at this stage, think it might be a 28. I am not an expert, so am not 100% Sure. And there are a number of single band pens that look similar.

Could it be a 75 or 85, or even if bought in Ireland a 115.

I am looking for a more definitive opinion, and understanding how you have come to that.

The Clip seems broken, so that may be a subsequent question.

Stpehen Hull's book is available at the British Library, so I will try and get in there at some stage.

I know the number may be on the pen, and that would clear things for sure, and I may get that, but for the moment, I just have some photos. Appreciate the help.

many thanks

James

Hi Jar - yes that is correct, unfortunately the photos I have did not show the number, and I am not able to access the pen myself to ascertain that info. thanks J

has the look of a 28 to me,

whilst hard to be certain the jewel clip does not look like a 75 / 85 type

Yes, difficult to tell. Either the 28 or 85. The 28 should have the larger No5 nib while the 85 has the No3.

Doesn't the 75 has chrome plate, and isn't the 115 one of the ink pencils?

Nice looking pen.

Thanks Mallymal - yes the 75 is chrome, so that is one excluded, and the 115 is an ink pencil.

I will find out soon, I hope. Thanks Northlodge - I hope it is a 28...

Congrats on the 28, James. I hope it turns out to be a really great writer,

I've been using a black 28 for the past two weeks, and it writes very nicely. Not much in the way of flex, but soooo smooth.

Actually, this one is not mine. Although I will get to view it next month, while i am in the USA.

But that is OK, as I have a 28 as well, and it is indeed a lovely writer.

My first Conway Stewart, but not my last.

Pleased your writes well, I think the nid is just very good, there is a smoothness and a heavy flow that I really like.
