Cool - I'm enjoying the lists. When I get the courage to actually count my birds and their housemates, I'll post it here. Probably later today. Also want to post a quote I found that I like. That will go with in the pictures forum.

I can tell you that I have 7 Pelikans at this time. uh... 8. But one is out of commission for the time being and I'm considering selling one. Haven't gotten the courage to do so yet. gosh it's hard to give up pens.

Have yet to try a Wearever. I look at them and some are really cool (I like the greys with red/magenta veins) but i just have this thing about lever fillers...

thanks to everyone who is contributing to this thread and to FPN!

1) Sheaffer Balance II in black with gold trim

2) Broken Sheaffer Vac-Filler (could be wrong on filler type--waiting for this to be returned)

3) Vintage Underwood lever filler in pearl green marbled material (sort of works--still hiccoughing ink at times, even after repair)

4) Conway Stewart Dandy in Azure c/c

5) Conway Stewart vintage 85 in marbelized blue pearl, lever filler

6) Marlen dot com in marbelized pink and black, semi-demonstrator, piston filler (cap cracked, so I returned it to the store to have it sent back to Italy for replacement/repair--only had it two weeks! now it will probably take three months to get it back)

7) Free no-name FP that was a lovely gift from a friend

8) Laban Celebration in Oyster Blue (waiting for this to arrive)

9) Levenger True Writer in Rose (ordered one for myself and am waiting for it to arrive [will return one borrowed from a friend when mine arrives]) couldn't resist the color!

10) Conklin Ohio in Peach--waiting for it to arrive and still wondering if maybe I should have gotten the blue and white swirl... decisions, decisions...

So, I can't wait until my three newest pens arrive and my Marlen comes back fixed. Wouldn't mind having the Sheaffer back too so that I can send it in for cheaper repairs.

Chela, I finally used up all my ink in my CS 85 so now I can try out that Waterman Blue Black you sent. Thanks.

I've missed you all while Rambling Snail has been experiencing technical difficulties.

I see you are getting the Rose pen, Elizabeth! And the Peach as well, good choices! Of course, I favor the rose but then that shouldn't surprise anyone. :)

Waterman Phileas in Red

(I am a sucker for Redheads)

Oh, be still my beating heart....a P51 with of that year! One of these days...it will happen. I'm on a slow and deliberate yet attainable, for me, hunt for a P51 '42 or '43, for sentimentals reason.

And the Waterman Phileas...I wish I'd gotten one of the two blue that I ended up with, in a red.

okay - here's my list (several of these were gifts or ridiculously low-priced by folks encouraging me in the hobby. I started "collecting" in '97. I actually only have two pens on my wishlist "for all time" I think. I feel that this collection is more than enough for one person and have moved on to inks, paper, and rubber stamps.

First the non-Pels:

Namiki Falcon in blue.

Columbus Academia in Emerald

Levenger Verona Purple

Phileas (one blue, one green if I ever find it)

MB 146 (gift)

Laban Celebration Black Pearl (these are beautiful acrylics that are not captured well in pictures on-line - there's a depth there that is amazing) And the nib is nice too.

Parker Sonnets - 2 (gifts) One Cascade (my only metal pen) and one uh.. dang it I never can remember the finish name. it's quite lovely. Fire somthing.

Esterbrook - 2 c/c pens - one my hubby excavated from his "stuff" of high school times. That's my favorite and one of my most treasured pens.

Senator Windsor - an excellent little pen for the price. If you can find one!

Sheaffer Snorkel - $6 find by my daughter that I had fun restoring

Rotring Core - just 'cause. not comfy for long-term writing but I keep it next to this PC and filled with PR Orange Crush.

The Pels: M400 white Tortoise, M400 blue stripe, M120 solid black (recent acquisition from the wonderful Rick Propas), M200s - grey marble, green marble, green translucent, Telekom grey/magenta. M250 in blue/black.

handful of "cheap" pens - Heros, Futures, Reflexes, etc.

Becky - if I had a red Phileas, I'd trade you - I think the blues are beautiful (old stock - new ones are a bit too flashy)

I really respect those who have been in the pen hobby for some time but haven't accumulated a gazillion pens.

Which is not to say I have any disrespect for hoarders such as myself.

I do have a much shorter wishlist these days. And sometimes I wish I could give up a few of my pens but of those I bought, there was something in particular that drew me to *that* pen (whichever it was) and so it's hard to give it up. Gifts are of course impossible to let go of.

Okay, here's what I've got (not a lot):

-Pelikan M405 in black/blue stripe with a fine nib

-Green and brown Wearever (but marked 'Supreme' on the clip) from the 30s--needs a new sac

-Pink 30s-ish Pioneer--also needs a new sac

-SPW Tundra X-1 (when it arrives--it's takin' so freakin' long--along with...

-Two Worker Bees)

-a couple other boring (and non-working) no-names and my disposable (but still refilled!) Pilot Varsity

And my fiancée has a green celluloid Filcao Forever that I gave her for her birthday.

For me, too numerous to name here but nothing compared to what Chris Chalmers has got. She tells me she has over a hundred! Mostly exotic.

What does your fiancée think of the Forever. The celluloids look so lovely. I have no need for another small pen - or any pen for that matter. But I do look at those sometimes and imagine Richard can make them very enjoyable to use.

what seems to be the problem with the no-names. Are they modern or vintage?

She likes it quite a lot. I wanted to get the blue one, but they (www.wndpens.com) were out (even though it was listed as in stock), so I decided to go with the green and got a bunch of free ink cartridges for the mix-up. The green fits with my fiancée's birthstone (peridot), so she said it was a nice colour, but I think the blue (with the red/purple in it) would have been nicer. It writes well, and is perfect for fitting into a small purse, so I think I have succeeded in starting her on the way to loving fountain pens. I don't think I have ever seen celluloid before and was surprised at the way it looks and feels--almost waxlike.

The no-names are vintage, and just need new sacs, but I'm waiting a while before I buy some--hopefully I can find a few more cheap vintage pens that need sacs and buy a lot of sacs all at once to start my restoration adventure.
