Need Help with old book values

If you are a collector of old/vintage books please send me a PM. I have a few that I want to sell on E-Bay but I have no clue if they are worth the trouble. One item is a Encyclopedia set from the late 50's.

Try www.abebooks.com to see if there are any comps. It's pretty deep, so you are likely to find some ideas about pricing.

Thanks. I'll try that out.

I use abebooks.com a lot too. It's a good resource to check on book prices. Apart from collecting pens I collect fine leather-bound books too smile.gif

Another place where you can check for indicative prices is Alibris

Ebay seems not to be a good place to move books in my experience, I have tried quite a few there without too much success. I don't have a better solution, unfortunately, if you do, please let me know! Those that have sold have mostly not done too well. The books that seem to do best are those about collectables, when you can list them in the appropriate collectable category rather than the book section.

Abebooks prices are not generally reflected on ebay, they are the retail prices where ebay is the wholesale and the mark up on secondhand books is large.

I can but agree too.

Although I'm primarily a buyer rather than a seller, I do have a few brand-new Folio Society books that I had somehow accidentally bought more that one copy. Tried moving them on eBay without much success, unless I'm prepared to take a hefty cut.

Listing them up on Abebooks or Alibris is not worthwhile unless I'm a big time seller, due to the seller fees imposed sad.gif

Good points about E-Bay. I was on E-Bay yesterday browsing through various vintage titles/dates and didn't see much movement. There's a couple Antique stores around here so maybe I'll hint around while visiting one of them and see what happens.
