Montblanc 146 - Repairable?

Hello evryone,

I can buy a Montblanc 146 that has a broken piston for a symbolic amount. The rest seems to be in fairly good shape:

Now my question is: is it worth buying it and sending to Monblanc for a service? If so, do you know what I might be charged for this kind of repair?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Sincerely,

Bruno

Yes, it would be worth it. 146 MSRP's for $700, and market value is about $300-350.

It would probably cost about $100 for service, probably no more than $150. Montblanc will basically replace everything that they think is is subpar. They'll only charge more if certain things, like the nib, is broken. Damaged nibs incur the greatest charge, it's over $300 I believe to 'repair' the nib -- which basically results in you receiving a brand new pen.

Yes, if I'm not wrong they'll charge you around 100 USD to replace the piston, all resin parts, feed and clip if you want. Depending on how much you're paying for the pen is a good deal.

Cheers
