Levenger Circa Voyager Notebook?

Has anyone picked up one of the Levenger Circa Voyager notebooks or seen one in person?

I use the Levenger Circa/ Staples Arc system extensively at work, and have really enjoyed the ability to switch around pages in the order that I want while on the fly. This looks almost like they're trying to take a little bit of the vibe of the Midori Traveler system and apply it to their Circa line.

 

Not connected to Levenger or Staples at all... Just wanted to see if anyone had tried one of these since it's a little spendy for something that I might not like.

Now that's rather interesting !

 

I'd like to see the spine of the notebook to see just how they've pierced/punched the leather to allow the Circa disks to move but stay attached to the cover. It strikes me that this would not be so difficult an item for a decent leatherworker to create.*

 

I'll look forward to more information on this new idea.

* Edited to add note - it looks something like there is a leather "spine" passing through holes in the Circa disks to hold the leather main body to the disks, essentially a leather thong. There is a small tab of the leather thong on the bottom of the notebook.

This notebook looks very nice, I will have to visit Levenger's and check it out...

I see in the referenced Levenger site, "Discs are not removable; does not accommodate any other Circa discs", which would support the idea of the "pierced discs" concept.

 

It can't be that hard to drill holes in the discs, nor to "string" the discs with a leather thong. The leather thing would need to be consistent in width and depth, as it appears in the photos to be a flat thong. The only really complicated thing would be to ensure that the "slots" through the leather cover are spaced appropriately (i.e., precisely to match Circa paper).

Levenger Circa paper is passable. However, Levanger also makes the Stanley journal which takes Levanger refills at two for $22. I find these to be very, very good – somewhat similar to paper blanks, but I like it better.

The stock paper isn't special, but I do like the number of options they have in their Circa line. They have options through Rhodia, and although extremely expensive it's nice to have choices. To save money, I print onto 28 or 32 lb paper using templates that can be found online.
