Well I have several Indian eyedroppers (Ratnamson, Ranga 3 and Guider) and my method for flushing is to fill them up and screw and unscrew the top almost to the point of detachment which forces water through the feed. It is also the method that I use for priming as well. I have never had any of my eyedroppers burp on me but I always keep them at least a quarter full at all times.

Jup! I think this is the trick. I experienced some extremely unfriendly eyedropper burps and learned this lesson. But I ask myself: "Why should I use an eyedropper with huge ink capacity when I have to refill it as often as I refill my converters?"

Eyedropper pens weren't originally designed to increase ink capacity - they were simply the default filling system, until converters, pistons, vac fillers, snorkels etc were developed.

That said, if you have an eyedropper with (say) a 2 ml ink capacity that has to be kept at least a quarter fill (remembering some eyedroppers can hold 3-4 ml!), that still gives you an ink capacity of 1.5+ ml, more than double the capacity of most standard international cartridge converters!

I have ordered an ASA daily(ebonite) pen and it is on the way from Chennai to Kharagpur. I learnt here that it is necessary to wash it before using for the first time, but should i use just plain water or water with some soap mixed?. I am planning on eye dropping it as i'm a masters student and need to write a lot. Any tips on what ink to buy will be appreciated. I'm currently using my trusty parker frontier for a long time with parker quink, I'm not very happy with the blue colour of quink.

i suggest that you use the pen initially in the converter mode. Use your trusty Quink Blue for that. see that everything works fine.

once you have established the pen is fine by using up a converter full of ink, you can simply apply silicone grease to the threads of the section, rinse the barrel under plain tap water and fill ink directly into barrel.

Try Camlin Blue or Bril Blue.

If you are able to import ink from overseas vendors, Parker Quink non-washable permanent blue is a superb ink, my favorite. It is freely available in the UK. HTH.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
