Does the black barrel geha 760 with a gold ring near the filler come with a rolled gold cap? Or is it a frankenpen

Hello.

I just got my hands on a pretty worn Geha 790 with a gold nib and a once red logo on the cap (please refer to the attached photo)

According to the engraving it’s a 790 and on the rear cap it says MS. I was hoping someone could help me out a bit, what exactly I got here. It also doesn’t have the famous rings.

The filling-mechanism came apart at first and everything was clogged with old ink, so I disassembled the whole pen, including the nib unit and Reservetank-feature and flushed it. It’s working again, the seals seem to hold, but it is prone to blobbing ink out of the nib or feed(not sure), when it’s moved around a bit to quickly.

I’m quite fond of this little fella, the nib is pretty much a dream to write with. It has some flex but I don’t have a clue what MS stands for. Medium… but the S? I cannot come up with something a fellow countryman in the 50s could have used with an S to describe a trait of a nib.

I have completely forgotten to thank for the link. It was very interesting.

“Schräg”, huh? I first thought about “Schliff” or something. :’D

Looking closely at the nib, it’s indeed an oblique, but I it seems to be very generous regarding writing angles.

Yes, it’s very hard for me not to love that nib. In fact, it’s my favorite so far and better yet, I got it for a price you normally get some beginner-pens.

The whole pen itself is another thing to discuss, but at least it somehow stopped blurting out ink on occasion when being moved and the filling mechanism doesn’t leak either.

Does the nib or the whole unit fit into Pelikans? Could be nice Franken-pen, when being combined with the solid body of an M200 I could imagine. Although comparing those two, just by looking at it I’d say, the thread-diameter of the unit could be different. Maybe the nib could fit. But then again, there is usually no reason to scrap the nib of a Souverän in the first place.

Anyways, I think I will look out for some more Gehas. They seem to offer excellent performance.
