Pelikan M805 Ef Nib (Image Heavy)

You may recall (or probably not) that I posted a review of the Aurora Kona nearly a year back now. The Kona was my 21st birthday present from my grandparents, and it was a toss-up between that one and a Pelikan.

Since getting the Kona, I was plagued with problems with the pen, until a week ago, after sending it back and forth between the seller and myself, I concluded it was not worth it, and received a refund.

Having bought myself a particularly wonderful vintage Pelikan 400 a few weeks before, I thought I might as well put the money towards a brand I'd had good experiences with, and thus my new, belated 21st present was a Pelikan M805 in blue and black, with an extra fine nib.

Rather than use my keyboard to write the review, I thought I'd write it myself to demonstrate the capabilities of this lovely piece of writing equipment.

Further to this, I decided to test the pen on some more textured paper, and by writing out in full my favourite poem of all time: T. S. Eliot's The Hollow Men. Unsurprisingly, the pen didn't miss a beat, and the flow and performance was consistent from the first line up until the last line, and despite the paper being far more textured than the Rhodia used for the review, the nib was just as smooth.

The paper is Nu: Elite Lined Wiro Notebook Paper, and ink is the same (Caran d'Ache Caribbean Sea).

Beautiful pen and nice review. Congrats on adding another bird to the flock. The only thing I might suggest in addition to your handwritten review, you include a typed transcription. That way it can be indexed and come up in future searches of the site when relevant. Enjoy your new pen.

I find it hard to believe that a pen of that price arrives with the tines misaligned. Sorry but that would bother me if that were my purchase.

Otherwise it is a beautiful pen. I admire the Pelikan designs.

Good Luck

Be Happy, work at it. Namaste

Lovely pen and a nice hand-written review. I have this one, absolute beauty. But then I saw this one today: (to be launched in April-2015 as LE, list price of 530 Euros) :o

Hmm, I like that one, but I prefer my blue one!

I agree. Such a high end pen is supposed to work well right out of the box. Tine misalignment or have to smoothen it would bother the hell out of me. Just not worth the price.

I've never had any of my Pelikan EF nibs write as fine a line as yours does! Your writing samples look almost as fine as a Japanese EF.

I'm pretty jealous. ;)

Hope I have made myself very clear. From a Pelikan XF blue striation with rhodium trim admirer.

Nice review, and lovely handwriting!

I also have a pelikan m800 in blue, with a broad nib, and it also had some problems when it arrived. It had baby's bottom and was too dry to write comfortably, skipped too much. Only after a lot of tweaking it now writes nicely, but fot a pen on this price point it should write perfectly out of the box.
