The Most Washable Ink

What is the most washable ink you have ever tried? I'm curious about inks that will serve for two purposes: no staining pens/hands and easy cleaning from pens. A good ink to adjust nibs and not staining clear pen parts. What have you tried that would fit this purpose? I am thinking of Parker washable blue or black, Lamy blue and other German washable blues. But is there a better ink for this purpose? Have in mind that color is not a matter here, just the fact that it will have lower permanence/staining capabilities.

Thanks

The Toucan inks from JustWrite have a good reputation for washability and cleanability (the ease it cleans out of your pen).

I believe that Waterman's Serenity Blue is also quite washable.

Don't forget that many inks that will wash off paper easily may not wash off your hands easily. Attaching to the proteins in your skin is not the same as attaching to the cellulose in paper.

The MOST washable inks I have personally tried are

Rohrer und Klingner Verdegris

Graf von Faber-Castell Hazelnut Brown

I recently made the mistake of letting a loaded pen fall into the hands of my almost-two year old. She made a beautiful drawing across my sheets and a pillow case. A cold wash with light detergent removed every trace. So I'll go ahead and add

Rohrer und Klingner Alt-goldgrün

And, as a group, the Herbin inks are all pretty washable.

Pelikan Royal Blue.

And especially those cheap inks (mostly noname, sometimes Herlitz) we get in the supermarkets for 3€ per 100 cartridges.

Hi,

+1 for Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue for ease of clean-up.

IIRC at Richard Binder's shop, one of the standard inks was Waterman BlBk; and I read that some other outfits used Sheaffer Skrip Blue.

I'm quite impressed with Aurora Blue for how easy it is to flush from a pen. At first I thought it was a 'persistent' ink: some dye could be flushed, but chemicals stronger than water would be needed to remove the remainder - but such was not the case. It is a favourite in my pens that are tedious to cleanse, especially as it isn't a 'default' colour.

Bye,

S1

My absolute champion is Parker Quink Washable Blue, although I consider it primarily as a cleaning fluid and thinner - it hardly qualifies as ink the way it disappears from paper under any pretext.

Parker Quink Blue (mine does not say Washable) - a typical school ink. Can be erased with "ink eradicator" felt tip pen, no water resistance whatsoever, easily laundered out of clothes. Fades pretty badly with time. Probably similar to, but wetter than, Pelikan 4001 Blue. All "royal blue" type inks from major brands are of that kind.

Montblanc Toffee Brown - Zero water resistance, easily washes out of everything.

Mind you, the ease of washing out of cellulose-based fabric (cotton, linen) is not the same thing as the ease of washing from one's hands. For some reason, of all the inks that have stained my fingers, by far the easiest to wash (with soap and water) were two permanent inks: Montblanc Permanent Blue and Noodler's black. Noodler's Black is also easy to wash out of pens (MB Permanent Blue decidedly isn't).

I got to confirm that Montblanc Permanent Blue, much to my surprise, also cleaned of my hands quite easily. MB Permanent Blue sticks to paper as if it were welded on but as far as human skin is concerned, it off in seconds.

Nice, great recommendations.

I guess this could be a new idea to Nathan Tardif. An ink designed to be temporary, easily washable, with a great flow and lubrication, ideal to use while adjusting or fixing pens. If it could be mostly washed from hands with soap, that would be nice. I guess it should be a medium-light colored ink so it wouldn't look awful in stained hands.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
