Hello From A Serbia

Hello all from a student from Serbia. I started liking fountain pens last year when hit the thread on the shaving forum, did a little research and found some vintage Parker Vector and started writing with it and felt in love with fountain pens. I have bought few fountain pens after that, mainly vintage, but yet to find one that I'll really like, so now I'm using Vector and Schneider Easy pen. Too bad that in my country FPs and inks are close to imposible to find, whenever in the store and ask for it, I get the look like I'm asking for a heroin. :yikes: :headsmack: And sadly ordering from outside isn't option so far (money issues).

However, I do like fountain pens and inks, and have the Waterman Blue Black, Koh-I-Noor black and Vivapen Blue inks, and some catridges. Currently seeking Pelikan Brown to get out of blue/black monotony, there are blue, black and red Pelikan inks in a few of stores, but brown seems hard to find.

I also use some copy paper of unknown gsm and some local notebooks, also unknown gsm, but very smooth and none of the feathering on them, something like 80-90 gsm.

Looking forward to hanging around here!

Welcome !

What do you like about the Parker Vector ? What would you change ? These considerations will aid in

choosing future fountain pens.

Remember that the cartridges can be refilled with bottle ink, using a syringe.

Write with joy.

Not much that I like about it, it was just a introduction for me, I liked the finer line it lays and slim, simple but elegant look. But now I do prefer wider and smoother nibs, and thicker pens.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
