Are Cross Nibs Still Made By Pilot?

I'm thinking of buying a Cross Townsend, current production.

At one time, the nibs on Cross were made by Pilot. They were very nice nibs, but this meant that they ran to the fine side - a medium was somewhere between a medium and fine for other pens, fine was very fine, etc..etc....

Who is making the nibs currently, and how do they run, size wise??

thnx,

Pilot made some nibs for Cross, not all of them. This Usenet thread has some interesting information on the subject. Nowdays, I'd think that their nibs are made by Cross's Chinese factory. Regarding line width, the medium nib on my older, "Made in Ireland" Townsend definitely isn't narrow -- it's all of a full Western medium.

I was told at Christmas in a B & M store Cross nibs are now being made by sailor. I was going to ask if anyone knew when it would be safe and sure to buy a Cross w/ a Sailor nib.

Grace and peace to you

Pilot/Namiki made the gold nibs on the Cross Verve and also on the Solo, I think.

Sailor will make the nibs on the new Peerless.

Other pens, probably in-house in China.
