Faber Castell Basic: Extra Fine? Is There A Difference Between The Extra Fine And Fine Nib?

So i recently purchased a Faber Castell Basic with the Fine Nib. I was not impressed with the line the nib layed down, it seemed too thick. I switched it with Lexington Gray and X-feather and the line is still thick, albeit to a medium nib.

I sold the pen to a friend and i am really looking forward to purchasing the Extra Fine Faber Castell Basic.

Could anyone help me out in providing writing samples of the extra fine faber castell basic and probably comparing it to a fine nib of the basic? I am assuming the nibs they use on the basic is the same on the e-motion, loom and ambition. Maybe a writing sample of the extra fine nibs on those pens would really help me in deciding weather or not i should go for it.

thanks in advance

This might help:

The faber-castell fine I have is about what I expect expect of a western fine, it's reasonably larger than the Goulet EF I have. But since I have a preference for Japanese nib sizes, the western fine is roughly the limit of thickness I'd want for everday writing.

If you find that Western EF/F is too thick for your taste you may be better off with Japanese (Pilot, Platinum, Sailor) pens with a Fine or Extra-fine or custom ground nibs.

There should be a difference between the EF and F nib on the Faber-Castell, but as I understand it the EF nibs are new to the BASIC line as of earlier this year. The ink and paper of course is going to make a difference, so if testing between two nib sizes helps to use the exact same ink and paper in comparons (which is the nice thing about the nib nook, all Noodler's Black and all Rhodia only the pen/nib changes).

And yes it's the same nib from the Loom up to the Ondoro they can even be swapped if desired.
