Just a quick scan (not color corrected) of some red Montblanc inks from the last years:

Ruby Red (1990s)
Ink of Love (2011)
Corn Poppy Red (2014 - )
Leonardo Red Chalk (2013)
Winter Glow (2012)
Je t'aime (2005)
Season's Greetings (2007)
Love You (2008)
Sakura (2007)
Right row:
Bordeaux (1990s)
Burgundy Red (2009 - )
Montblanc Corn Poppy Red is a darker medium red with good intensity. To date the most true red and similar to "Ink of Love" and "WInter Glow" but slightly brighter and less magenta and more orange tones but not as orange-brown as "Leonardo Red Chalk". Orange tones show better on some papers than on others. Corn Poppy Red has a "fresh blood" look. Definitely not a pale, bright, fluorescent ink as the older Ruby Red.

Cyber6 spoke with a MB Rep and allegedly a new MB Pink Ink will be issued. However, no one has seen it. If it exists and I get a bottle, I can send you a sample for your inky pleasure.

It's a much oranger red than I expected.

 

I'm glad you kept Morinda, it's a perfect comparison ink.

I see this for sale from the Montblanc site, but not elsewhere (yet, I suppose). Pen Boutique offers "Gandy Red" which I believe is burgundy. ;)

 

I'm always in search of the perfect red. Definitely red, not overly orange/pink/etc, not neon but yet not so dark you have to peer at it to see that it's red (I write small, with fine nibs). So far my closest match is Sailor Oku-Yama.

This is not a burgundy or a dark deep red. I still have it inked up so I can see what I can do about some comparisons. It's closer to Levenger Cardinal Red than it is to Levenger Pomegranate.

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

      There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

      Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

      Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
