I've always been a huge fan of Noodler's and Nathan, but they've always been undeniably drab in their color offerings for me. But I want more of these deep, luscious tortoise materials.

Wow. Is that new? I don't remember that color before. What models does it come on? Please say FPC or Konrad -- or maybe not, I've kinda blown the discretionary budget for the time being.... :wallbash:

Perhaps we are living in a very nostalgic environment here in fpn, maybe we don't know but now it is a golden age of new modern fountain pens and we ignore it yet, I think specialy in Italian, German and Chinese production. This Nathan sure will be a classic in 80 years from now.

I want one now. This is the Ahab model, too big for my hands. But this material really looks beautiful in photos.

I just got the pima tortoise and filled it with Stormy Grey. The pen is really beautiful and the nib and feed work great. I'm super happy with it.

 

The ink has no gold yet (am hoping once I use up some of the ink more gold flecks will appear on the page--for now I can't get my syringe or pipette in the ink fast enough to get any sparkle). But it is really a perfect degree of lubrication for this pen and I am a big fan of dark grey inks.

 

I think it's a great combo and will be even more so as I get down to the bottom of the bottle and the nib gets a bit broken in.

Just discovered this material in Ahab myself. No clue why tortoise seems so rare in modern pens..it *always* looks great. Have one of these on order and it will become my main writing pen. can't wait to ink it up and will have 8 or so inks to choose from!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

      There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

      Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

      Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
