Best Blue-Black Ink?

My favorite blue-black ink - I say it is my go to blue ink - is Noodlers Legal Lapis available from Pendemonium ( http://www.pendemonium.com/ ). It is bullet proof and works great with all my fine and extra fine nibs. I dries quickly. It is a great ink.

My favourite blue-blacks are Platinum Blue (it's a blue-black despite the name; there's no Platinum ink named Blue-Black as far as I know), Diamine Denim and the old Parker Blue-Black with Solv-X in no particular order.

ESSR and Pelikan BB are good.

ESSR had one of the longest threads ever...worth looking at. Most folks really like it....it is not a copy of Diamine Register ink.

The other way around in the original company (Stephans/Stevens an old British ink company) was there first.

One of the managers got the big wood tub and formula when the conglomerate that bought it up and gutted it quickly, as part of his settlement.

Pelikan Blue-Black. Very nice color and shading. It is pretty water resistant. However this is a dry ink. Great for 1.1 stubs, maybe a bit too dry on fine...

I have used without issue in my Pelikan 120 M & K EF nib as well as Lamy fine and others.

My favorite blue black.

What about hero blue black? Really cheap and really great

I am very impressed with the Hero 232 Blue-Black. It looks great, performs fine, waterproof, inexpensive, and is relatively low maintenance. I just purchased a second bottle as a backup.

I have only had experience with PR Ebony Blue.

It's a really underrated ink in my opinion. However, I would classify it as a blue-black. It's really a dark teal, leaning to the green side.

It's very dark and has a bit of sheen.

I've used it in a Faber-Castell medium nib and it flows fine, but without a broad nib, it really looks green and not teal or blue.

I hope I helped.

OK I stand corrected :)

What I meant was the Platinum Blue-Black DYE ink as my favourite blue-black ink. There's no Blue DYE Platinum ink, so I had gotten my previous post mixed up. My bad. The wonders of growing old LOL :P

The Blue Platinum ink in your second link is the PIGMENT one. I also have this, and it's a nice vibrant blue as opposed to blue-black. Requires more maintenance, though, and should not be left for any prolonged duration in your pen lest the internals get all clogged up. I let my bottle of Platinum Blue PIGMENT ink stand unused for several months, and the pigments ended up precipitating at the bottom of the bottle. If you fill your pen without shaking the bottle first, the result would be a very runny and much diluted blue ink on the paper - not very pleasant to my eyes

I would be a bit leery of Hero's blue-black, especially if the parts that come in contact with the ink (e.g nib, section ring) is gold-plated. This ink somehow would eat up the plating. Never had any other ink do this in a short amount of time.

Maybe Hero had improved their formulation by now, but I would not touch this ink although it's available very cheap here in Malaysia (2 oz bottle = MYR 2.00 only!)

I am liking Sheaffer Script Blue Black. Nice shading, water resistant, and has an antiquated look. It's like the MB midnight blue but shades better.

I don't know if it counts as a true Blue-Black, but Edelstein Tanzanite has quickly become one of my favorite inks. Well behaved and attractive.

I love it too, and I think this is what the 4001 Blue-Black should have always been.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
