What Do You Think About The Franklin Christoph Model 19?

My Blood is INK

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm quite new to the fountain pen world. I'm a student, so I use my pens every day (TWSBI Diamond 580 and Franklin Christoph model 40 pocket) I was really pleased with the model 40 pocket, so I now got my eyes on the model 19 "1901"

To the owners of this pen: What you think of it? How is the writing experience? is it worth the money?

I don´t have personal experience with FC, but I have had my eyes on the "19".

I´ve read several reviews and watched a couple of Youtube clips abot that particular model, and it seems like There´s a general satisfaction with it.

There is general praise both of the steel and the gold nib, so it seems to be a safe buy.

I can add that the only reason I didn´t buy one was that a Pelikan came in my way, so that posyponed further acquisitions for a while

I am a TWSBI 580 owner as well and considering this pen, especially with a SS Masuyama M or B stub.

I purchased one of these at the Atlanta Pen show earlier this year (April, I believe). While I found it to be a great pen with a wonderful nib (Masuyama Needlepoint), it actually went up on the chopping block a couple of months ago. In my opinion, it just didn't offer enough, at it's price point, for me to be in love with it. In fact, I kept the nib and sold just the body. But then sold the nib shortly after as I've got a Model 40 Pocket coming with a Masuyama Needlepoint Nib installed (I originally kept the nib to put in another pen). It's not a bad pen at all. In fact, it was well-made, comfortable and very, very beautiful. But, for me, it's really just a production-level pen with a good nib. I will also say, though, that while it won't post, it is very comfortable to write with.

I'm sort of talking myself into another one, aren't I? :D

If you have another pen that will take a No. 6 nib, you might be better of just buying the Masuyama nib and installing it yourself. Unless you're just dying to add a different/new body to the lineup.

No, that's not blood. That's Noodler's Antietam.

I held one at the London Pen Show last month, and found it very comfortable. Nice looking too.The F-C stub nib that I've got in an 02 is one of my favourites. I'll get a 19 to keep it company one day, I'm sure ...

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

I have a 02 intrinsic with M18kt gold nib and I must say it is a great everyday writer pen. It is a light weight when compare with my other pens but it feels very comfortable. So I assume that the 19 will have about the same qualities.
