Olivastre - L'artisan Pastellier

L'Artisan Pastellier is french ink / calligraphy materials producers. They offer two lines of inks suitable for fountain pens: CALLIFOLIO (inks made for fountain pens, neutral PH and so on) andENCRES CLASSIQUES (not all of them may have perfect properties however I've tried most of them and had no issues in my fountain pens).

L'Artisan Pastellier inks don't get much love or attention here. I understand this as they're not easily obtainable. You may buy them directly from the producer's on-line/stationery boutique. The best thing to do is to organize group buy (I've done it twice last year for polish sountain pen board). It's nice thing to do - you get to meet a lot of people to exchange inks and the shipment cost becomes really friendly.

I must admit I'm huge fan of Callifolio series. They have cool names and some trully unique colors. They're nor super-saturated but I like them this way.

Soon I'll prepare comparison of all 36 colors (there are two new Teodora and Olivastre) but it'll take time. Maybe November?

I'll make reviews of some of them.

Olivastre is new color in Callifolio line - green, Saturated. Yes. This one is really saturated and wet. I like it a lot.

Nice to see one that is saturated.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

@Saskia - Teodora is also green. Now that they have greens in their collection, they should think about some deep red.

@Amber - actually I believe they have improved formulas or it's the pen I use (Kaweco Classic Sport tyrned to eyedropper) but many colors seem saturated to me. There are of course colors that are watery and / or boring, but in general I'm quite impressed by the samples I've received.

I received samples, and then I acquired pouches. The samples were terrific. I think the samples had evaporated a little and so I ended up samples that were more saturated than the ink actually was. Once I used ink from the pouches, I was disapointed, the inks were just too water colorish.

I don't see this ink under the Callifolio line on the website. Would you mind linking me to the product page? Thank you for the excellent review!

I see Vert Olive in the Classiques, but is it the same? It appears that you've tried both.

I really like this Olivastre, and have added it to my list of favorites from L'Artisan Pastellier. Have you tried or noticed any difference in the Classiques line compared to the Callifolio line of inks, or is the difference just in color/bottle/price? I would like to see both colors (Classiques Vert Olive & Callifolio Olivastre) side by side, if possible. Thanks for the great review!

Check out the link in my signature. There should be a link to the callifolio inks there.

I don't know if I'm being a total goon but I can't find it on the website, under the callifolio ink range!

Today I had some time to make swabs and photo of Olivastre in the company of few greens. Take a look:

I'm impressed. I wonder how Olivastre compares to other similar dark green inks - Diamine Evergreen, Montblanc British Racing Green, Noodler's Sequoia, Sailor Epinard, etc.

I don't see this ink on the website. I attempted to contact the company by email which was returned as undeliverable. Does anyone know if this ink is still available and if L'artisan Pastellier is still in business?

Hi Jared, have you tried this mail: artisan.pastellier@wanadoo.fr? I believe they're still in business but it seems they're not enamored with new technologies and details like updating their website :P

You can always check for Olivatsre in Vanness and Sakura Pen Gallery shops.

Best
