Pelikan M200 Clip Adjustment

While screwing the cap on my EDC M200 the clip suddenly came loose. Upon closer examination, there is a space between the end of the cap nut and the clip ring:

When I unscrewed the cap nut, what appears to be the remains of a plastic spacer fell out:

I screwed on the cap nut but it will not grip the clip so it is completely loose. Has anyone encountered this situation before? I believe maybe I could replace the plastic spacer with an O-ring so the clip doesn't dance around. Any ideas?

So if the cap ring/nut won't screw down, are the threads stripped on the nut or cap? It should cinch right down.

The threads do not appear to be stripped. But I believe that if the cap nut screwed all the way down the cap top would protrude too much.

Good point, so the top is extending too far above the cap... I wonder if there has been a failure inside the top of the cap, like maybe the inner cap is split? Maybe you should take the nut off the top and disassemble the cap to analyze it... They typically come apart easily if the nut turns off okay.

I've had bad luck with Pelikan caps. I've had good success ordering pens from Niche Pens Limited (no affiliation) at pelikanpens.co.uk.
