Pen T O D - Your Dream Pen.

Hello!

I decided to make a TOD (topic of the day) post for pens.

So, tell us about the pen you're dreaming of, and what does it feel like to own one, if you do!

I'll start:

The pen of my dreams is a Wahl - Eversharp Doric with an adjustable nib #9 (and preferably with a touchdown [plunger?] filling mechanism). I watch videos of it all the time, being so into it I have to take a moment to understand what happened when the video is over. I will own one one day. I swear.

Here are some videos:

That Doric Looks quite nice.

For me, though, I'm extremely partial to needle-fine nibs. I plan to order a Pilot Heritage 912 with its unique Posting nib. I really hope it satisfies!!

Realistic one? Montblanc Meisterstuck 90th Anniversary Classique F or M.

Unrealistic one? Parker Limited Edition Fountain Pen ($40,000 pen, I can buy a car with that money).

A clipless urushi covered celluloid pen made from ebonite with an adjustable nib, which combines all major nib sizes incl. wet noodle, various cursive + stubs in Oversize but small enough to carry in one`s pocket with a nice Art Deco clip… my grail pen :)

My "attainable" dream pen was a Pelikan M400 white tortoise, which I DID GET and is now on it's way to me (!!)

Ridiculous and never attainable dream pens:

Nakaya Milky Way Raden http://www.nibs.com/nakaya-naka-ai-cigar-raden-milky-way.htm

Nakaya Naka-ai Heki-tamenuri http://www.nibs.com/Nakaya-Naka-ai-Cigar-Heki-tamenuri.htm

Pelikan M800 Brown Tortoiseshell http://www.nibs.com/pelikan-m800-brown-tortoiseshell-special-edition.htm

Namiki Yukare Royal Catfish & Gourd http://www.nibs.com/NamikiYukariRoyaleCatfishandGourd.html

Pelikan M320 Pearl http://www.nibs.com/Pelikan-M320-Pearl.htm

And then maybe a MB 90th anniversary because I like the rose gold? Yeah.

I don't spend too much time looking at pens way way unrealistic for me. Too much prettiness, too little actual ability to purchase or even see these IRL :(

I would also be very happy to have a vintage wet noodle pen fall in my lap someday. Red ripple ebonite too? Aw yeah.

Dream pen du jour is a Stipula Moresi. When I got it it would feel warm, weigh in like a Stipula Etruria, and the fine nib would be a little wide so I would have a F-M with a 7 out of 10 flow, and the nib would have a little bit of flex, but enough to tire a hand while writing long sessions. It looks like this;

The photos are from the Moresi web site.

That's enough dreaming for one day.

Some people say they march to a different drummer. Me? I hear bagpipes.

Great topic!

For me, it would probably be either a Nakaya in the brownish/green or one of the Omas brown arco celluloid pens.

Now that I've held one it's the Waterman 20 and since we're dreaming here I'll go with a stub nib.

Let's dream big...

Pelikan M1000 maki-e Seaside with an OBB nib, tuned for a steep writing angle:

-or-

Nakaya Ascending Dragon Deskpen in aka-tame gin bokashi, left oblique Broad nib.

On the more affordable side, a Montblanc 149 90th Anniversary edition, but only if i can find it for a more reasonable price, $800+ for this pen too much in my opinion.

If I had to choose a dream pen, at my current moment.. well.. I think I would have to go with

Probably unobtainable (unless I win the lottery) -- Yard o Led Viceroy Victorian Standard. Maybe with a B nib because so many of my pens have F or M nibs.

Possibly obtainable (but still pricy) -- Parker Vacumatic Burgundy Shadow Wave (I saw one at DCSS and it was way not affordable but damned gorgeous nonetheless). Probably a Major or smaller in size. Don't care so much about nib width because a lot of vintage pens seem to be F nibs to begin with; something in a stub might be kinda cool, although a nib with some flex to it would be even cooler....

A Pelikan 140 is on the short list. Maybe another Parker 51-a Flighter maybe?-I have a 51 Special.

What is my dream pen? Hmmm let me see..... this:

Why is it my dream. I won't ever get 15000 USD freely laying around. And it's a Pilot pen.

First, I'd like to thank Skylar for starting this. Then I'd like to voice my frustrations over these objects of desire to subvert my fevered dreams! How dare you heathens add to the misery of longing for objects unobtainable.

And back to first. Thank you Skylar, you have given us all another platform to begin the quest for our inky grails.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
