What Pens Are You Using At Work This Week

A Parker 21 desk pen with a nifty swiveling magnetic holder and an extra fine nib (it's great for my Mnemosyne notebook that has graph lines).

A Noodler's Konrad Ebonite Methuselah's Pine Cone Ripple Special Edition (say that fast, three times) that also writes a very fine line if you don't press on it.

A Sheaffer clipper with a medium nib that writes very boldly when I need to sign something (or just make a statement).

All of them have Noodler's Bernanke Blue. I really love that color.

The Parker and Noodler start a little hard, sometimes. This morning, after the weekend was a little tough. But the Clipper is always ready to go, even after a week sitting idle.

Well, so far, my Sonnet has been keeping up the good work, so yeah.

I currently work at home, while looking for a new job. What I actually have found myself doing is primarily using my Dillo with Hero blue ink in it for most of my writing which is erratic in timing, rather than the nice flex piston filler from Lexaf, or the FPR Triveni flex pen, because it is quicker to uncap and scribble. For my morning quiet time and journaling I put the date in with the German flexer from Lexaf, and the actual journaling with the Triveni.

Back at work after 6 week vacation. Decided to rotate in two new ones I picked up over the summer and one oldie:

Oldie:

Lamy Persona Titanium - F - Noodler's Black. Old reliable. Love this pen!

New:

Lamy Dialog 3 Black - M - Iroshizuku Kon-Peki. Bought used this summer. Writes well but is very wet and skips more than any Lamy I own (18).

Graf von Faber-Castell Intuition Grenadilla - M - Iroshizuku Asa-Gao. Wow! My new favourite pen. I had no intention of buying one of these but came across one for a price I couldn't refuse. Glad I did. Only Tuesday and almost out of ink.

My regulars all ran out of ink at the same time yesterday. Today, I'm using the Sheaffer Admiral (P.R. Gray Flannel) that I just restored, and my copper icicle Esterbrook LJ (Waterman Black).

Last week every document in my office had Diamine Syrah on it, written with a Faber-Castell Basic.... This week I went for a colour which is somewhat easier to stomach for my colleagues... Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo, pen is a Pilot Vanishing Point.

What a strange world we live in, where people communicate by text more than ever before, yet the art of proper handwriting is seen as a thing from the past.

Always a Safari. Light, reliable, and inexpensive. I have a tendency to lose my pens, so carrying anything high-end, is not very smart.

Right now I carry a charcoal Safari EF with Iroshizuku Yama-Guri.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
