Nakaya Has A New Nib ~ Anyone Get One Yet?

So I saw on the FPN FaceBook page some asked why their new Nakaya nib said "Nakaya" & not "Nakata"

Well I asked Nibs.com and the response was that they recently changed it and they have just started seeing the new nibs arriving themselves. There is no difference in the nib other than 1 letter ... any who just thought I would share.

Sooooo.. has anyone gotten one ???

From what I recall, "Nakata" was the surname of the founder of what is now the Platinum Pen Co., from which the luxury brand Nakaya is originated. This is just conjecture, but perhaps this is a move on the company's part to signify a change in direction, or an evolution for the company? I know that using the words "change" and "evolution" in the context of referring to a company that produces fountain pens through traditional means is a bit disingenuous, but there you have it.

 

So long as performance remains the same, I don't see much reason to overly concern oneself with it. The older "Nakata" nibs might become something of a collector's item now, given the relative exclusivity of the brand and the length of time it takes to produce each item, but that's about all I can come up with in terms of long-term effects.

Ah it is all becoming a bit clearer now. Wonder whay the change of name ? No doubt the definitive answer will arrive on here soon.
