It's almost that time again! Left Handers Day is on Wednesday, August 13. There are a lot of fun resources at the Left Handers Club website. They have posters you can print off, and these graphics. See last year's thread here (with even more fun images).

As a neuroscientist studying laterality, seeing this post has made my day!~

 

Sadly, I am right handed. However, I can tell you that the vast majority of Muppets are lefties. :)

I'm not left handed myself but as there is a Lefty's day I think I'll remember my Grandfather. (Also a good time since it's 100yrs since WW1)

He was born about 1900 and was left handed. At school they tied his left hand behind his back and made him write with his right hand.

But he would always pick up a hammer in his left hand. (not to hit the teacher with I hasten to add).

 

I'm glad things have changed.

I have to buy the "Keep Left and Carry on" Poster and the left-handed zone one as both my partner and I are left-handed. Think I'll have to post some of my leftie writing as well!

 

On another note: My father was left handed and he also had his hand tied behind his back (late 1940s). He wrote right-handed (always with a FP) and blamed his "poor" handwriting on the forced change.

 

Attempts were made to force my Aunty (mother's sister) to write right-handed in the early 1950s but gave up when my 1.45m, 38kg Grandmother threatened extreme violence!

 

Left-handers' day is a big day in my mainly left-handed, extended family.

I am a leftie. I started school in 1950 but was never forced to use my right hand, maybe because I had already learned to write when I got there. I'm not completely left-handed. I don't use knife and fork the wrong way round, and I don't use left-handed scissors.

I didn't take the test as I didn't want to give my email address. Can't think why it would be necessary, and I'm already inundated with junk emails.

Happy lefty's day ~ I'm a lefty underwriter and, being new to the FP world, am so happy that I'm not smearing ink! For some reason I thought it would be impossible to write lefty with a FP.

 

I took the test and got a 96. There's also a test with a spinning ballerina which indicates which side of your brain is dominant. I'll try to find it and edit it into this post.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
